29 yards on 20 First Down Plays

I know you have to be able to run the ball to play action, but it seemed like Iowa barely play actioned on first down.

Not to mention the running plays weren't very creative.

Who is responsible for these calls? The casual Iowa fan can call our plays with alarming accuracy, so imagine what teams do with a week to scout us. Probably play golf 5-6 days of that week, since they know we aren't going to change anything and will dedicate 50%+ of our plays to running into their stacked line.

If we had an O coordinator with an ounce of imagination, we would be a: fun to watch and b: in the top 20 because of our D. Instead we will slug it out with other mediocre teams for a trip to some obscure bowl game in mid-December.

One third of Iowa pass plays should be off playaction. Thry treat it like it's a rare trick play.

Running on 1st down with 8 or more in the box isn't going to net many yards. Our stubborn coaches seem to think they can establish some sort of a run game regardless.

I wonder if BFs playbook particularly on pass plays is incomplete/small. Perhaps we saw all the plays unveiled in Ames. So shortening the game is now part of the offensive strategy to make up for it. A lot of those run calls had to be made knowing that they would amount to nothing yardwise.

Offensive football passed Kirk by when bag phones were popular. The guy has the worst combination of personality traits: arrogant, stubborn, and delusional. If he were at other schools that had expectations for someone making as much as he does, I suspect he would hire someone to truly innovate. Instead he hires 'yes' men who accept they are OC in title only and run what he wants.

There seems to be nothing new or innovative under BF. Fact is this is Kirk's offense. Plain, simple, and prided on execution and fundamentals. There has been no updating this offense since day one. Everyone thought things may change with the different O-Coordinators, guess not.

I have said fro 10 years KF might be a great person, but he not very bright! Nothing has nor will change with him as head coach. He is a one trick pony..........
