3 Americans dead at a Sandals resort in the Bahamas.

Both types of vacations are a conflict in my head.

Part of me says you are on a vacation so relax.

Part of me also says "Well if you are traveling you should see as much as you can while you are here."

So part of me wants to just kind of chill for hours on end. And part of me wants to be constantly going from 8 AM to 8 PM to see as much as I can.

I actually think I come to a happy medium but it's sort of a struggle in my brain. And I think my wife helps the "Go from 8 AM to 8 PM" part from winning over.

Our trip to Puerto Rico combined these two concepts beautifully.

Day One: San Juan. Flew into PR and took a taxi to the Doubletree San Juan. We couldn't check in yet but they took our bags and we wandered down to the beach and had a nice lunch in a local restaurant. Later after checking in we went to a cool farmers market area that turns into a street party at night.

Day Two: Old San Juan: Went into the old city and visited the Spanish Forts, had a nice lunch and some cocktails, and bought some jewelry and souvenirs. Then took an Uber to....

Day Three: Isla Verde Beach. We spent the next day at a Courtyard beach resort with a casino and three restaurants. Had a lovely dinner there and got good and sunburned. They had the swim up bar thing and the beach and all that. Really needed the relaxation after all the walking the day before.

Day Four: Had an amazing lunch at a nearby locals restaurant the next day before flying home.

Great vacation.

Kinky sex games made a better story. Now Sandals has to pay out $$$.
Time for a big sale! “We might kill you, but 30 percent off”!

You would hope they’d lower prices. Right now a week with air in their lowest category room is like $8500. It has a beautiful beach but that’s ridiculous.
Tell us what it looks like in a week. Although, people are desperate to travel after Covid, I guess.

Zika was here in the States.

The ‘freak out’ wasn’t that Zika could kill you, as that is very uncommon. The ‘freak out’ was concerns related to serious birth defects.
Yeah, I skipped a good buddy’s stag party down there due to Zika concerns. My wife was newly pregnant and her OB told her if I went I was signing up for either no sex or condom use for the rest of her term. No thanks to both!!!

This is why when we travel we stay in each place for several days rather than hopping around every other day. Then it’s best of both worlds - you’re in a city long enough to have a few days of hustle and a couple days of just sitting at cafes, 2-hour lunch, happy hour with locals, all that. We’ll go overseas for 10 days and only move cities once, if at all.

Was Jr's head normal at birth?

That sucks. I traveled quite a bit during that time and your wife never never made me cover up.

I’ve been concerned about this in VRBO’s but not hotels/resorts. I think it’s time I actually invest in a travel CO detector.
