IMO, the 3rd Q is what really led to our D being gassed in the 4th. Our offense did nothing in the 3rd, what'd they have? Six or seven plays for 3 yards compared to MSU's 110 and two FG's. Our O at least needed to put together a few first downs to give the D more rest. Our D literally played the whole 2nd half. They gave it their all played hard, but they were just gassed at the end there. Plus when MSU is converting 3rd & 8, etc... it really is a back breaker.

I felt like that whole 3rd quarter of we could find a touchdown, that Michigan State was looking for a way out. Cook was not comfortable at all and our defense was just tough as hell. I thought of we could go up 13-3, or 13-6, all the other on them that they would have a hard time with it the way the game was being played.
You're right though. Offense struggled on their limited possessions in the 3rd and not only couldn't we find a score, we came out of that quarter trailing 9-6.
You're right that the lack of offense that quarter precipitated the fourth quarter.
