My apologies.

If you are looking for an overwhelming schedule, Iowa football or basketball is not the place you should be looking

No west coast teams. No Penn State. No Indiana (funny thinking that is good)

We have Ohio State, Illinois, Minnesota, Purdue and Rutgers at home. Michigan does not impress me this year.

Yeah, we go to Wisconsin. Bye week before Wisconsin very early in the season. We don't usually do well after a bye week.

We finish at Nebraska. They're always certainly beatable.

Aug. 30Florida Atlantic
Sept. 6at Iowa State (Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series)

Sept. 20at Wisconsin
Sept. 27Ohio State

Oct. 11Minnesota
Oct. 18at Northwestern

With our offense, Davenport Central’s schedule is overwhelming.

On paper this should be a 10-2 type opportunity. But we usually lose a few that we shouldn’t so 8-4 or 7-5 is normally in play. (Edit based on correct schedule)...This is more difficult, I would say best case 9-3, likely 8-4 or 7-5 and 6-6 is certainly in play. We lose a lot on the defensive side so another step back there and 5-7 is probably the worst case scenario.

It is difficult to hold serve and almost impossible to over deliver with a horrific passing game.

Iowa is built to never be bad, but it also means we are never going to be elite.

We are like the oldish golfer who does a great job of keeping the ball in play and out of trouble. But does not have the power or length to make lots of birdies. We have to get up and down for par quite often and so it’s a very scrappy 75 or 76. About as low a number as we will shoot. Meanwhile OSU, UGA, Oregon just play a different game, with short irons into most holes, and potential to shoot 66 or 67.
