Thanks for posting these. Huge win yesterday. Glad to see them play so well as a team and get in a groove. Loved the defensive intensity too. Hopefully that gives them some good momentum and they stay hot at the perfect time of the year.
When the NCAA released their initial top 16 teams, it was clear that the Selection Committee was going to lean on the NET rankings.

Iowa at #5 in the NET means we would be a high 2 seed/borderline 1 seed if teams were selected for the Tournament today.

Assuming Iowa wins against Nebraska and Wisconsin, and wins their first round matchup as a #3 BTT seed, it's probable Iowa will play that Saturday against Illinois for a 'winner earns a #1 NCAA seed' game.

Illinois also plays at Michigan and Ohio State this week which could make things weird if Illinois loses both before the BTT. I'd bet Illinois splits this week and stays where they are in the Big Ten standings and the national rankings.

The fact the PAC-12 only has one ranked team is a travesty, given that UCLA and Arizona are in the conference.

Iowa only had 4 loses at the end of 1987. Anyone know what they were ranked going into the NCAA tournament...I believe they were a 2 seed...
Ok, found what I was looking for, Iowa was rated 6th at the beginning of March and ended 6th in the final AP poll.

Not bad for a coach who can’t recruit....or coach.....and whose rampant nepotism has stunted the growth and confidence of Joe T et al.

@perryhawk @paladinhawk @QChawks @Robster Raws @Suterman @CleteyColgate @BBHawk

As you can see in what I quoted above, at 12:52 pm there was this post in this thread that Iowa’s #5 AP ranking is the program’s highest rank in the month of March in 66 years.

Chis knew about this or should have known about this; he just needed to scroll a quarter of an inch down his computer screen to see this AP thread. But Chis is a troll from HROT who occasionally wanders over here and more often than not doesn't even look to see what has been posted before he posts. Then he hurries back to HROT. Check out page 1 of HROT to see the BS he posts.

Don't feed the trolls.

I would love another shot at Gonzaga. If that doesn’t happen, I would love to see Michigan play them.
Although being ranked 5th on March 1 is pretty cool too. Especially since Fran’s teams always fade........:rolleyes:

IF we beat Little Debbie & Wisky and then (likely) Purdue & Illinois in the BTT, even if we lost in the BTT Final (Michigan the likely opponent), could we still get a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament?

Probably depends on Alabama and Illinois. Alabama probably gets a 1 if they win out, maybe even if they make the SEC ccg and lose. What if Illinois wins the next two on the road but loses to Iowa in the semis. I can’t see Houston getting anything more than a 3 tbh because they haven’t beaten anyone. Villanova, maybe? Root against Bama and Illinois for sure.
