5 years since the first Covid 19 diagnosis in Iowa.

Remember when people would go into Costco and throw a fit about having to wear a mask. Or when they acted like masks were suffocating them. When they took horse medicine. When they took hydroxychloroquine. When there was a run on toilet paper. When they would complain about social distancing, social distancing was awesome. When there was an increase of calls to poison control because of bleach ingestion.

Maybe they were just always broken.

I just went to the grocery store with a mask because I have covid.

Remember when states shut down some businesses but left others open and told healthy people they couldn't work?
Remember when kids lost the majority of two years of education?
Remember when the newly-elected POTUS signed an executive order in 2021 that people couldn't lose unemployment benefits if they refused to work from fear of COVID?
Remember when the federal government paid out 4.5 trillion it didn't have to states and the states who had the most stringent lockdowns got the most?
There is a lot of blame to go around.

It was unprecedented in contemporary times and the rest of the world seemed to be taking the same precautions. Like I said emboldened by hindsight. You can't really reset the messaging without viewing it on the lense of how things were viewed as they moved through the pandemic back then.

Bro, you’re thinking of Trump. In 2020 it magically disappeared once the weather warmed up.

Oh, and don’t forget Kenneth Copeland executed judgment on COVID19.

Biden had nothing to worry about.
Ehhhh…I’m pretty sure Biden said it was over and took heat from his constituents for it.

I remember the Iowa Mama Bears getting honored by the Governor for their work fighting "mask abuse" and then one of them being charged and sentenced for making false accusations against a business partner.

I worked every day during it. None of the measures put in place had any significant effects. We destroyed our economy and stole an education from a generation.

Once again hindsight and a generation that's a bit hyperbolic. As much for destroying the economy is that true? The US was doing better with inflation than the rest of the world so that seems a touch hyperbolic too. Especially with the recovery of jobs and lowered unemployment over time.

Like I said this is going to prime us up to get absolutely destroyed if something more deadly comes along because people are emboldened by hindsight and apparently hyperbole.

A lot of people warned against the overreaction and the negative effects it would have on the economy. They warned against the rush to get a vaccine to market. They warned against the uselessness of masks and the psychological damage to children due to isolation.

Too many people following junk science because the government and the media terrorized them.

Would hope people wouldn't fall for shit like that again but then again...'Merica.

Not having someone ramming their cart into my legs at target was so nice. 6ft should be the standard.

I’m convinced I caught it late February at Carver during either Iowa vs Minnesota wrestling or Iowa vs Ohio State men’s basketball. I was sick as a dog and in the bath all night by the Iowa vs Oklahoma State wrestlIng dual that weekend.

Our work cut our full time hours to 32/week, but also filed for unemployment for us for the lost time. I got $600 per week for the lost 8 hours. So I got an extra day off plus a ton of cash which we put into a down payment into a house for a Sub 3% loan.

I pandemic'd on top.

5 years ago Anthony fauci was committing crimes against humanity in violation of US law that required Joe biden to issue him a criminal pardon. We also began to see the fascist/totalitarian nature of the left on full display. The left's (awful) handling of the pandemic is one of the many reasons they lost the last election in a massive land slide.

Living in downtown Des Moines was great at that time — the city suspended all parking meters.
