No idea. Joe Zuspann led a prep wrestling program in Lawton, OK for many years and was an Assistant at Iowa State for a brief time prior to moving to Oklahoma.

He's in the finals. Both wins by major. Lots of tds.
Good win for Drake. Renteria is legit (2X CA state champ). I believe he was a 4X placer. He’s from perennial powerhouse Buchanan HS.
Not too legit to quit. Lol
PK in the finals 7-3 vs Judge from ISU it was not that close though, all escapes for judge and PK never got up to speed.
Swafford almost pinned himself again in the Simma match trying to throw an awkward cradle.
Judge had no interest in wrestling, just blocking off trying to keep it close.
I’ll take that aggressiveness. It can’t really be taught but maybe channeled.
looks like renteria got out to a 6-2 lead on mckee before promptly pinning himself going for a turn. classic mckee match
McKee seemed to tweak a heavily wrapped left leg. Not sure if we see Ayala v McKee.
Kennedy teched him a couple weeks ago. Probably influenced Judge to go 100% defensive.
Pinned himself while getting over-zealous with a cradle. He’s gonna have to learn from this one…he did this stuff all the time at the NAIA level and it worked for him…. Won’t work at the D1 level. Growing pains.

Bad week for that. A few Naia teams and high school teams I follow have a lot of guys out with the flu.
Man… Had a frustrating 2nd round loss of course, but I am extremely pumped up about 3 out of 4 of Brennan’s wins so far (Jared Simma, Sean Harman, Dajun Johnson)….!
McKee was on bottom both matches and reversed directly to the fall. A little extra awareness on top seems warranted against this kid.
Sherwyn Thorson is one of the best to come out of FD as well.
Couldn’t finish multiple single legs and spent too much time on bottom. Unfortunately his conditioning didn’t bail him out this time. Ayala was down 4-3 heading into the third and he chose neutral.

One of McKee’s points came from a cheap stalling call. He also had RT.
If anybody in the AD office is reading - I’d be willing do PBP for the official Hawkeye accounts. Seems we dropped this…

ayala is high on skill, a little low on horsepower right now. got bullied in the key moments. also gave him a little too much respect. bailed on some positions before he had to.
biscoglia is such a pest to wrestle. good tough ride from schriever. that match didn’t feel nearly as close as the score.

McKee was better today but Ayala was right there with him. It was a good test. No shame in that loss.
That’s a little odd.
Bottom start takes escape and td to win or go to sv with opponents escape.
Neutral start requires td and ride out to tie or 2x takedown to win.
Looks like Drake needs practice getting out from bottom. What better time than an open?
Colin Realbuto from UNI just beat ex-Panther Michael Blockhus. The crowd sure enjoyed that one.
mckee was at 0:44 riding time. if drake goes down, he’s likely still losing anyway. i think the calculation was why take the chance of getting ridden out or ridden for most of the period when you’ll need a takedown anyway? he had nearly scored at the end of the second and they probably wanted his pace to wear on mckee. unfortunately i think mckees physicality neutralized ayalas pace. he wasn’t able to move him hardly at all and if anything, ayala looked the more tired of the two.
i thought he had a nice day. i really want to see him against a top 20 guy.
I get it. But he probably needed two takedowns when choosing neutral.
Surprised Kennedy gave up takedowns and such a close match with Carlson. Carlson coming off a horrible CKLV.
I think that Drake definitely needs to spend some time in the weight room. He's slick and quick, but struggled against Renteria's strength in the first (had a ton of trouble getting his wrists free on bottom) and apparently likewise against McKee (didn't catch the match unfortunately). Maybe Lil Tony can give him some tips
still only 1. it was either 4-3 or 5-4 (when you factor in rt). the stall call is what really burned him and the last thing they were probably thinking about when they made the decision.
