Failed to Advance to the Sweet 16 (Super Regionals):

#3 overall seed Arkansas (TCU instead)
#4 overall seed Clemson (Tennessee instead)
#6 overall seed Vanderbilt (Oregon instead)
#9 overall seed Miami (Texas instead)
#10 overall seed Coastal Carolina (Duke instead)
#11 overall seed Oklahoma State (Oral Roberts instead)
#13 overall seed Auburn (Southern Miss instead)

Advanced to the Sweet 16 (Super Regionals), as expected:

#1 overall seed Wake Forest
#2 overall seed Florida
#5 overall seed LSU
#7 overall seed Virginia
#8 overall seed Stanford
#12 overall seed Kentucky
#14 overall seed Indiana State (beat IOWA to advance vs TCU)
#15 overall seed South Carolina (Congrats, @pepsicock )
#16 overall seed Alabama

As a result of these upsets:

#14 overall seed Indiana State gets TCU (instead of #3 overall seed Arkansas)

Tennessee vs Southern Miss (instead of #4 overall seed Clemson vs #13 overall seed Auburn)

Oregon vs Oral Roberts (instead of #6 overall seed Vanderbilt vs #11 overall seed OK State)

#7 overall seed Virginia gets Duke (instead of #10 overall seed Coastal Carolina)

#8 overall seed Stanford gets Texas (instead of #9 overall seed Miami)

The other 3 Super Regional matchups:

#1 overall seed Wake Forest vs #16 overall seed Alabama
#2 overall seed Florida vs #15 overall seed South Carolina
#5 overall seed LSU vs #12 overall seed Kentucky

There are lots of disappointed fans from this past weekend's results (not just Iowa fans). This is why I have always said that as a sports fan you should always enter the game with the expectation that you might lose. Shit happens in games. I would define hitting 10 batters in a game as ONE example of shit (and as an NCAA record as well).

As Marty Sutherland said recently, "that's baseball."

As KF has said for years now, "that's football."

If Wake Forest doesn't win it all, I would be surprised. But shit will happen. But will enough of it happen? We'll see.

It was a fun season of Iowa baseball. Rick is a Heller of a coach. Things could have gone sideways after the gambling scandal broke but he kept things moving forward & he kept the team focused.

Heller, in 2015, broke a 25 year NCAA Tournament drought. Iowa has now made the NCAA Tournament 3 times in the past 8 seasons (the 2020 team probably would have made it 4 times in 9 seasons). And, as we know, making the NCAA Tournament is not easy, especially with the bias towards the B1G Conference.

Iowa baseball has been around for 133 years (established in 1890). This year's team, with a record of 44-16 (.733), tied a program record for wins (in 1981 they were 44-21, .677).

There's a lot to celebrate and a lot to look forward to.

GO HAWKS!!!

The SEC will have a minimum of 2 and up to 4 teams in the field of 8 College World Series.

Regarding the remaining SEC teams and whether you think they advance to the the CWS, answer the following 4 questions based on the assumption that if you get all 4 questions right, @EvilMonkeyInTheCloset will pay you $1,000,000!

1) Tennessee (vs Southern Miss)--Yes or No?

2) Alabama (vs Wake Forest)--Yes or No?

3) Florida/South Carolina--which team? ;) Again, $1M is on the line!

4) LSU/Kentucky--which team?

I hate the fact that NCAA matched South Carolina up with Florida. I thought the whole idea of a tournament was to play different teams you during the season. To me from the team I seen so far I think TCU that took Arkansas out looks pretty tough . Will see.

I typically go.....this year two of my kids are heavily involved in baseball and softball, so schedules didn't work out. I'm likely to miss out on CWS trips for the next several years.
