80 years after his plane went down off the coast of New Guinea, Lt. Thomas V. Kelly will return home for burial

Kelly was the 21 year old bombardier on a B-24 on a mission to attack Japanese antiaircraft positions, when the plane was shot down. After 80 years his remains, and the remains of other crew members were recovered from 200 feet of water, identified, and returned to their families.

It’s good that Lt. Kelly can have a proper burial and memorial service after all these years.

On a side note, if journalists are going to write columns like these then I wish they would put a little more effort into accuracy. The article twice referred to the B-24 as a jet.
