86 Dems vote for Socialism

I wonder if when most people hear the word "socialism" their brains interpret it as "communism".

I've never understood why there's so much emphasis in these black and white words. Can't the U.S. just be a gray country installing a hybrid of laws and policies that simply work w/o the focus on what the frack to call it?

People definitely equate socialism and communism. Basically, any socialized service/program leads us on the path toward being Cuba or the USSR. That's the narrative at least. This narrative is preached by conservative media and politicians.

Part of the narrative is that socialism is basically an on/off switch. Democrats want to flip it on and turn us into Cuba while republicans want to keep it off so we can stay America.

I benefit from VA disability and I expect my SS income when I'm 65+. Socialized programs have their benefit just like capitalism. Neither should be unchecked.

Any elected Republican that can define Socialism would be the only elected Republican that can define Socialism.

Those dumbasses either lie constantly or don't have a clue what they're talking about. I include both only because the likes of Gaetz, Jordan, Boebert and MTG are too stupid to know the definition.

Welp...so long Social Security...and Medicare...and Medicaid. Socialism each and every one. That this got a single Dem vote is the travesty.
Just shows how dumb R politics is. What’s more, all that energy spent talking about wokeness.. this is the same shit. But with really, really dumb underpinnings and intent.

:)

GOP sends thankyou cards....

Seriously....this is obviously a resolution with no real need or usefulness. Just a political ploy...

86 D's provide the fodder the R's were looking for...pretty stupid IMO.

The House on Thursday approved a resolution denouncing socialism in a bipartisan vote that fractured the Democratic caucus.

The resolution overwhelmingly cleared the chamber in a 328-86-14 vote. The majority of Democrats — 109 of them — voted with all Republicans for the resolution, while 86 voted against it and 14 voted “present.”

The measure, which runs three pages, says “socialist ideology necessitates a concentration of power that has time and time again collapsed into Communist regimes, totalitarian rule, and brutal dictatorships.”

It argues that “many of the greatest crimes in history were committed by socialist ideologues” — mentioning Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong, Fidel Castro, Pol Pot, Kim Jong Il, Kim Jong Un, Daniel Ortega, Hugo Chavez and Nicolás Maduro — and it lists atrocities committed under socialist regimes.

“Congress denounces socialism in all its forms, and opposes the implementation of socialist policies in the United States of America,” the resolution reads.

I saw Feenstra brag about this, ironically his entire district are socialists.
