I get the need for a big, but I wouldn't be disappointed if both Jackson and Sibley committed.
I feel pretty confident Fran would find a way to take four if they both committed. In Fran's fast break offense these two athletic young men would excel.

It would be pretty easy.

We only have 12 schollies filled right now. Kriener and Evelyn will both come off after this season. Move Till back to walk on status.

Or if Bohannon somehow plays this season that is the 4th right there.

Girlfriend could be trouble down the road. Besides, she could transfer if he selects Iowa.

Given the scholarship rules, can Till go back to walk on status? Would it have to be voluntary?

I'm just wondering if he was given a scholarship with the understanding that he might have to go back to walk on status. I'm bringing it up because it makes sense, but I don't know if it could have been discussed or if it was even possible.

I’m pretty sure that is allowed without taking the time to look it up. Assuming that to be the case, I’d be surprised if the option of rescinding the scholarship wasn’t discussed.

However, I think the most likely agreement and scenario if we need the ride is that Till would graduate transfer as he redshirted one year. I think that’s a very likely possibility even if we don’t need the extra ride.

I think Till has improved to the point he could be a solid contributor at a lower level.

I dont think the 4 year guarantee of a scholarship applies in cases like Till when they are awarded one after walking on.

https://www.athleticbusiness.com/go...wer-conference-to-guarantee-scholarships.html

Any student-athlete recruited to a Big Ten institution through the offer of an athletic scholarship will be guaranteed the following throughout the course of their enrollment:

  • The scholarship will neither be reduced nor cancelled provided he or she remains a member in good standing with the community, the university and the athletics department.
  • If a student-athlete's pursuit of an undergraduate degree is interrupted for a bona fide reason, that student-athlete may return to the institution at any time to complete his or her degree with the assistance of an athletic scholarship.

Well that’s a bummer. D.J. Gordon is on an OV at Iowa this weekend though. Would be nice to get an athletic wing on board.

I strongly suspect it was Jackson who canceled. Fran would take both Jackson & Gordon if it came down to it.

I do think it’s a good sign that Gordon is taking his OV mid-week. Unusual during the school year I would think. It suggests to me a mutual sense of urgency.
