It should allow the guys, especially Keegan to heal their wounds and get some much needed rest.

Utah State is a good shooting team and already has a P5 win over Oklahoma.

After that we get two more warm ups before the rest of the brutal big ten slate.

we really need to win these next three games to get to 10 wins. We’d have to go at least 10-8 after that. That’s a tall order.

You guys must have done much better in dealing with the stress of finals than I did.

I think everyone needed a break after losing 3 in a row and having two abyssal performances on the glass and shooting. Players, managers, coaches, fans, everyone.

Utah State does not strike fear defensively, but they have some guys that look like they practice shooting for hours every day. Particularly the bald guy with the headband.

utah st is much better than those earlier paid for opponents. This game is no gimme.

Maybe Tom Davis could stop by and teach the team how to rebound. Apparently, nobody on the current staff has this skill set!

I mean, we have years of evidence against this idiot coach, but many of you seem to think the next game is when he:
1) stops playing the wrong guys (like both of his kids)
2) starts understanding defense & rebounding
I wouldn't say Fran is an idiot. He is what he is - a great offensive coach but just doesn't make defense a priority in most anything about the program. His teams generally play together and compete, and he succeeds in having very efficient offensive teams even without overwhelming talent.

To the issue of his kids playing for him - that can always be a problem unless the player is overwhelmingly one of the best players on the team. Neither kid is in that category, so of course it will be an issue. It doesn't mean they aren't good or worthy players, but other guys on the team wonder if they are getting a fair shake. I would guess it was an issue in Frederick transferring. It's a tough issue for which there is no easy answer.

On the defense side, they just don't make it a priority. When a team is skilled enough to be among the best offensively, there is no good reason they can't be at least mediocre defensively. It's either not taught at all, not taught correctly or players just know that PT won't be given out or taken away based on it.

On stub hub that game must be sold out! tickets are selling over 100 or more, no way id pay that for 2 mediocre teams!

My prediction: Utah State HC Craig Smith will be the next HC at Nebraska.

Smith was the top assistant to Tim MIles at Nebraska before he left to take over at the Univ. of South Dakota. His run at USD was impressive and now he has Utah State playing well. I don't know how long Hoiberg will last at NE but Smith would have that team playing better immediately. Good recruiter, good game day coach. I'm sure Alberts has an eye on him.

What makes me think that recruiting to play basketball in Lincoln Nebraska would be difficult?

Nebraska BB history is a disaster but Pinnacle Bank Arena is one of the best venues in the Big Ten and even though they are a football school, they usually dtaw 14-15K. They play in a premier conference with abundant media exposure. With the right coach, some hype. and a little momentum (an NCAA tourney invite, e.g.) Nebraska should be able to recruit fairly well IMO.

I've heard nothing but positives about that arena. All the same, you can keep it and it's BB history of disaster

I don't think Nebraska is a danger to compete for a B10 title any time soon but they can certainly make a Top4/5 run with a good coach. They obviously thought they had that coach when they hired Fred Hoiberg four years ago but its looking more and more like a bust. McDermott has recruited pretty well at Creighton, no reason Nebraska can't do as well or better.

I thought that too but it looks like Hoiberg isn't going to get it done there either, that's got to deter some coaches from even considering Lincoln. Dead-end basketball program.

Hoiberg seems to recruit very skilled basketball players. He just doesn't seem to recruit very smart basketball players.

His biggest recruits have been self-absorbed superstar wannabe crybaby ball hogs. Put a couple of them on the team and it won't be long before team chemistry is shot. Teddy Allen was a black hole last year. Verge looks like he grabbed the prima donna baton so far this season. Should be interesting drama when Trey McGowins returns.

see if fran has been working on rebounding at all. Last 4 games have been beyond pathetic

Do you think McCaffery is going to suit up? Do you really think that the players haven't been taught the fundamentals of rebounding? Maybe it's time to put the onus on the guys on the floor. The first step in rebounding is the attitude that every board is yours and then do everything in your power to make it so.

Utah St. Put up 59 in the first half last night against 9-2 Weber St last night. Final was 95-80.

He’s at Utah now FYI.
