As one of the true freshmen that might have a chance to play this year, defensive end Cedrick Lattimore is anxious to begin his college career. The 6-foot-4, 267-pound Detroit native will be moving to Iowa City right away this summer to work out with the team and star preparing. We caught up with Lattimore, who will wear #95 for the Hawkeyes, to talk about his upcoming freshman year and much more.

Q: When do you make the move to Iowa City this summer?

LATTIMORE: I make the move to Iowa City June 12 and start working out June 13.

Q: What are your goals for your freshman year? Are you hoping to play or expecting to redshirt?

LATTIMORE: My plan for freshman year is to come in and work hard and if I'm ready to play at the time, I want to play.

Q: What will it mean to you to walk out of the tunnel at Kinnick Stadium for the first time?

LATTIMORE: It’s a dream come true to walk out and play in that black and gold.

Q: When you look back at everything, what was it about Iowa that made it the right place for you?

LATTIMORE: Iowa was just the fit for me and my family. Also, I fit into the program and the coaching staff was nothing but the best during my recruitment.

As a senior, Lattimore had 51 tackles, 22 TFL, and 17 sacks on defense and 22 catches for 375 yards and nine touchdowns on offense for East English Village this past year.

Reactions: Eternal Return
I get the excitement about AJ in 2017 but don't forget the freshmen this year. Lattimore could become a beast quickly with Doyle. One of my favorite recruits this year

From looking at the roster, he is a little short for an Iowa TE and a little heavy. I hope he moves inside.

At 6-4 267# he already has the size need at DE. I like his attitude... " My plan for freshman year is to come in and work hard and if I'm ready to play at the time, I want to play."

Adrian Clayborn played at Iowa and his measurable were: 6' 3" and 285 lbs

What is this you're saying about Lattimore again? In 2017, Iowa will need Lattimore more on the interior - but he could still get his feet wet at DE this season (assuming the shoe fits).

Will keep the theme going from #96

96 bottles of beer on the wall...96 bottles of beer..take one down (keep it for yourself) 95 bottles of beer on the wall.
