This is a documentary on the development and deployment of possibly America's greatest ground support aircraft since WWII. It talks about the battles between our nation's USAF and US Army for an aircraft that would be able to be deployed in various theaters of operation to support the US Army's missions in their ground operations. It's sad to realize that these 2 great branches of our nation's military defenses were actually competing against each other for the allocations of our annual Pentagon budgets in order to accomplish each military branch's "prime objectives".
It seems that there were some serious differences between the "missions" of the Air Force and Army objectives after WWII and the conflicts we dealt with in the past 80 years, and how politics were involved in resolving these differences. And, that's not to disregard the other differences which the US Navy also displayed.
For those who may be interested in cutting "defense spending", maybe that should begin with the idea of getting our 3 primary branches of defense on the same page, to collectively defend our nation, and at the same time, to cut the duplicate wastes and to stop competing for the Defense $$$.
