Politics is NOT religion. Politics and religion are exclusive of each other. What politics needs is a solid foundation of ethics and morals. It does not need religion. Ethics and morals are what you have learned in your life's journey. Religion is the great divider in this world. Morals and ethics are the great uniter.I have known some wonderfully sound people who are not members of any particular religion. What makes them this way is how they live. Not who they pray to.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Be respectful. Be tolerant. Have some fun! and have a beer afterwards!
