What follows is a really interesting Aug 29 tweet from Scott Dochterman. I guess this is what happens when you have a 14 team conference.

From 2018-2025:

* Iowa plays Penn State and Rutgers both 5 times.

* Hawkeyes face Ohio State, Michigan, Maryland and Indiana 3x,

* MSU just 2x.

From 2016-2051 (35 year time span):

* Iowa will play all Eastern teams (except Indiana) 16 times (8H/8A).

* Hawkeyes and Hoosiers will play 12 times.

Here's a trivia question for your family and friends: Rutgers is our new rival! What is Rutger's football stadium named / nicknamed?

Answer: HighPoint.com Stadium is the new name for Rutgers’ stadium. It was previously called High Point Solutions Stadium.

"High point" is much more catchy than "the big house" or "the shoe." Am I right? ;)

I'm disappointed that highpoint is a tech company. I was hoping New Jersey had legalized weed.

If my math is correct, that’s 108 games vs East Div teams and 210 vs our West brethren over that 35 yr time span.

It would be a 36-season cycle (2016-2051 seasons) - 6 different 6-year spans playing one of the teams from the East, never having a matchup with Indiana for West teams or Purdue for East teams. Over that period, every team from the West would play every team from the East 16 times, except Purdue/Indiana, which they would play 12 times (Indiana and Purdue would play each other 36 times, same as division rivals).

So, sounds nice, with things evening out over this period of time, but I think the chances of the B1G having the same current structure in 2031, much less 2051, are pretty slim.

I wish the conference had figured out a better way. I so loved playing Michigan and Ohio St almost every year.
