The long awaited, hugely overpriced new fighter has been activated by the Marine Corps this month. I was listening to a story on NPR a week or so ago about computer security, and he mentioned that over 70 percent of the computer chips used in the F-35 are sourced from China. Not only could the supply be threatened as production is ramped up, but, he said as the streams of chips arrive to produce the jets there is no real process in place to make sure they are not embedded with glitches or a virus that the Chinese government could activate if they ever had to face US built F-35's in combat.
I'd like to think that was just random radio chatter, but, it actually seems plausible in the era of outsourcing and mega projects.

Isn't the Air Force soon picking a version/company of their next generation long strike bomber? I would assume this will probably be the last manned bomber that gets built for the AF.
