It's amazing isn't it that in any other setting that is assault and criminal liability would attach. In sports you can do it and people will justify it

Clearly intentional crap like this should get a lot more than a 1-game suspension, maybe 3. If it is a repeat offense, maybe an entire season. Guys get tossed for accidental elbows and hands pretty regularly with the new flagrant foul rules, and this intentional stuff should get a lot worse punishment, even if it was kind of a sissy punch.

I honestly didn't think that McGowens was doing anything other than trying to pull back once he realized that there wasn't a play to be made. That's why his elbow was flexed like that as he was trying to pull his arm away. It wasn't a cheap shot and McGowens was obviously trying to avoid falling on top of him at the end of the play as well. His own teammate commits worse in games all season long and gets away with it.
