I've read this can help with back and neck pain, migraines, weight loss, etc. Anyone try it and did it work for you? Anyone have any bad experiences?

Once I got over the needles, it was one of the most relaxing things I've experienced and I've been on a life long quest for relaxation ;) . Not sure if it does anything beyond that

In my little bit of experience with patients who've tried it, a few get some benefit from it, but it's likely a placebo effect.

I had plantar fasciitis really bad about seven years ago (getting out of bed in the am was hell). I tried a lot of therapies and nothing worked. My doctor joked that he could hang a coat on my heal spur. I finally decided to go for acupuncture. Went for three sessions. Each session he used 18 needles, three or four of which were hooked up electronically.......they would turn up the juice until I could't take it then back it off a bit. The sessions were about a half hour each. After the third session I was fine and have had no recurrence. Placebo (I doubt it) or not.....something worked and was well worth it. Dr. Ahn in Cedar Rapids.

I work with a guy who played D1 football. His neck is so screwed up that he wasn't able to sit and work, he needed one of those elevating monitors so he stand. He finally did acupuncture in and has been much better.

The reason I went in the first place- my father-in-law was in a car accident and had chronic, severe pain in is elbow (which was injured in the accident)......he went to Dr. Ahn and has great results. He convinced me to give it a try.....he's about as pessimistic of a guy as you'll find....one of the last that you'd expect to try "some chinese snake oil"
