Melissa really did go down that route but she was the complete opposite type of character on Gilmour Girls where she got her start as a kind and funny chef for the Inn. It’s hard to believe it is her when your daughters and / or wife make you watch.
I think that's what made Jumanji good. He and Jack Black actually had to act. Kevin Hart on the other hand, played the same character he always plays.

Adam Sandler played a completely different character in "Reign Over Me". It may be the only movie he's been in worth watching.
Ha. My wife and I just mentioned this last night about Vaughn while watching Bad Monkey. He plays himself...always.
I gotta disagree with will ferrell. He’s played non comedic roles that in no way resembled his typical comedic style. Stranger than fiction is a good example.
ALWAYS. Has very little range. Consider Bad Monkey vs Swingers vs Dodgeball.
That said, he was a pretty good serial killer in Clay Pigeons.
Bad Monkey was so good. I love the Keys so that probably made me enjoy it more but it’s good storytelling and Vaughn really shines in his typical style.
Its great seeing Carl Hiaassen's work getting into longer format shows. If you haven't read his stuff, definitely look into it. He basically takes Florida Man and converts to books.

He still cracks me up. The dude can talk and talk and talk. I'm sure he'd drive you crazy if you hung around the guy for long.

His episode of Hot Ones was actually really good and insightful. He's a smart and quick guy, it's no wonder he's endured the business.
We just watched Four Christmases for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised with the film. It was a good comedy.

He make's a point that sometimes with comedy, its more about the situation and characters around the main character that make the movie funny, so sometimes its better for the main character not to do too much. So it's likely most of his characters are just an extension of himself.

Hiaasen was doing Florida Man before Florida Man became a meme. I guess I need to check out Bad Monkey, but you're correct, his takes on Florida are spot on in their hilarity. Stormy Weather and Double Whammy are my two favs of his.
