Actual government waste . . .

Gotta love the hypocrisy from the new administration. Trying to stoke outrage over paying to help sick, poor kids because they don't live here, but have zero issues wasting money to pretend they are extra "tough" on immigrants.

This reporting is from that well-known leftist manifesto The Wall Street Journal:

The Trump administration has been using military aircraft to carry out routine deportations from the border. It costs $28,500 an hour to fly a C-17, compared with $8,500 an hour for a standard Immigration and Customs Enforcement flight, according to government figures. This week’s flights from Texas to Guantanamo took roughly five hours.

“We are just going right now,” said another Defense Department official. “We will sort out the funding later.”

There have been about a dozen deportation flights to different countries so far, including one to India that took two days. The U.S. has spent more than $1 million on flight costs alone.

What kind of plane did ICE utilize?
ICE Air Operations uses a variety of aircraft to accomplish its mission.

  • For routine daily charter missions: B737 or MD80 series aircraft.
  • For large special high-risk charter missions: ICE charters B737 to B777 series aircraft.
  • For small special high-risk charter missions: ICE charters a small jet (i.e., Gulfstream IV or equivalent).
A daily scheduled charter flight average cost is $8,577 per flight hour. A special high-risk charter flight average cost is between $6,929 to $26,795 per flight hour, depending on aircraft requirements.

I refueled a lot of C17 planes in my day and they hold over 25,000 gallons of fuel. I guess they can probably use those flights as sortie hours the pilots have to maintain. That's the only silverish lining I can find.

So basically American taxpayers are shelling out $20,000 an hour per migrant flight to assuage Trump's ego.

No,.. This is actually being done in direct response to the stupid decisions made by the Biden administration when allowing each of these immigrants easy access to the interior of the country,.. Joe committed this money with every bad border choice they made,.. Direct your concerns to him.

Cheaper would be nice, but it's a one time expense that's cheaper than the recurring cost in dollars and lives of keeping them here. I'd heard last week they were doing this due to the need to expand capacity quickly.

I do appreciate liberals being conscious of cost now though. You're coming around to the common sense side OP! There's plenty of room on the common sense train for any classical liberal who sees the insanity the leftists have thrust upon the once great democratic party.

Do they get Amazon to deliver food and toilet paper to GitMo, or are there planes that need hours doing those daily tasks?

So let’s just say each flight is 5 hours long so roughly 100000 for the flight, let’s say each flight carries 200 passengers, studies have shown that each illegal immigrant costs the American taxpayer roughly 8000 a year so by my math each plane load is saving the American taxpayer 1.6 million dollars, minus 600000 for different hours different amount of passengers and to give some leeway on the costs, that’s still 1 million dollars saved. So why are you upset?

First report I read mentioned a few dozen passengers, but you keep up the math exercises.
BTW, somehow the plane comes home, so double your $100,000.

Because it's dumb and a waste of money.

Previously, these flights were done for around $8k an hour.

Now, it's $28K an hour for the sole reason that Trump wants it to look "tough."

You dumb focker. Do you believe the military planes sit idle when we aren't at war?

The part where you refust to acknowledge they are using military aircraft when they don't need to at a higher hourly rate.
How long is it going to take to deport everyone using an 8000 dollar an hour plane. More importantly how important is it for you to want to keep the most dangerous illegals in our country?

Those military planes fly whether they are hauling illegals or not. The incremental cost of hauling illegals in military planes is $0.00.

Wow, turns out you get MORE people for CHEAPER in the civilian plane.

How bout them apples, @RNHawk?

If you want to help kids in other countries, you can personally send them a check. Or better yet, you can travel to their country and volunteer your time.

Talk to Joe Biden.. as previously indicated, he made these commitments.

It’s been two weeks. Haven’t had any press conferences with charts. The numbers must be really disappointing in the administration.

I find it cute this is the issue you have a problem with. Not the millions and millions of people Biden let in illegally.

Didn’t think you could get any dumber. I will stop underestimating you.

I don’t believe your millions…. numbers, but am curious as to how many of those folks work for republicans.

I'm going by the WSJ numbers. If they are incorrect, that's on the reporter and editors.
