OL seems to be playing better so far this year than last year. We really could use an extra push in the middle though to help with the run game. I expect the OL to continue to improve through this year and into next year.

It’s funny that fans determine good or bad OL based solely on sack #’s when in reality the QB’s ability to manipulate the pocket and/or WRs ability to get open plays a major role in that. Until we average 4+ yards a carry....not sold. I don’t care if they stack 9 in box, a good Iowa OL generates a push

You speak from your ego and not with your brain.

All I know is we better pick up our run blocking as we go through league play. The o line is fast becoming a unit of concern IMO.

He can handle the big people but had trouble with the smaller quick defender. The thing I didn't understand is why he didn't let Stanley know the guy was loose.

Iowa's yards per carry is actually up a tiny bit over last year after 5 games. Even though last year Iowa had Wadley.

The poster you're responding to said the OL appears to be improved. They have improved their ypc and sack numbers, so it is hard to disagree.

I’m pretty sure our coaches will not be benching him. This thread is a reminder of why I’m glad they’re in charge.
I must have missed the part where anyone brought up benching him, but I for one think he's doing just fine. Even great players get beat every once in a while, and he could be on the path to great. Very young still....

I agree they are improved, just pointing out how people base line play solely on sacks too often. The OL has potential to be much better in the run game, often times four guys are dominating and one guy misses a block (sometimes a TE). More consistency is what we need- can't dominate 9 out of 10 plays and the one completely miss- need at least a stale mate

There's enough tape on kids like Jackson,Hoooker and so on that OC and DC will attack their weak spot just like Schreff and Jewell etc... went through it's up to the individual to keep grinding and get better.

Our tackles are not the problem in the run game. Even though both have room for improvement. Both need to learn how to finish and become a bit nastier. Te's and fullback position needs to get better and we need Banwart to get healthy. The biggest disappointment in the oline play is the lack of development by Levi. The rg spot should be his. No way I can prove it but I bet Polasek was counting on him to nail down one spot.
