Fran has also won just 2 NCAA games in the past 7 years and counting (I didn't count the COVID year), which is not all that great, either. As I type this, there's a lot of work to do if this season isn't going to make that 2 wins in 8 years. Beating Nebraska last night is a start.
Fran has done a decent job at Iowa, but overall, it's been pretty meh for me. I'm not sure I'm seeing what it is that some people are so afraid of losing if there's a coaching change. Could the next guy be a flop? Of course. But we saw after Todd Lickliter was shown the door, that things can be rebuilt pretty quickly if the next guy is competent. This is something I simply am not afraid of, as a fan.
I'll give Fran credit for the post-Lickliter rebuild and for making the program at least competitive, but I think he's taken this program as far as he's going to. People are either satisfied with the current product, or they're not. I personally am not, but I won't crap on others who are. To each their own.
