Could a team made up of all of Iowa's freshman (including moss) beat one of lickliters teams?
I think by the end of the year they easily could

With all due respect to guys who played under lick, I don't think any other than Cole and Gatens would see the floor. Tate maybe in spot minutes.
Who would be the Lick all-stars? Gatens, Cole, Kelly, May?, Tucker?
Interesting discussion.
Lol, Tucker was NOT good. One of the most suprising pieces of those Lick teams was what I saw at the fieldhouse (gym, not bar). I know things aren't the same now but you used to have to wait 3 or 4 games to get on the floor. Win and you stay.
These guys would be in there (Tucker, lick, and others) and these guys couldn't hold the court. I almost felt bad because they would lie about scores, fouls, etc and get run off by the student body.
Jake Kelly would have been a great college player in Fran's system, IMO. I enjoyed that kid's game. He was very good at Indiana State too.Lickliter tried to use Tucker as a PG and he really had problems getting the ball up the court. This was after losing Tony Freeman (3rd Team All Big Ten) who transferred after Lickliter asked if he had ever considered transferring and not being named a captain for his senior year.
Things pretty much got worse after that for Lickliter. Jake Kelly, Aaron Fuller, and Jeff Peterson all eventually left as well.
Tyler smith played for Alford.. Tony freeman one year would put him on the all lick team. Still have no idea why he got ran offTyler Smith was pretty good for a short time.
He beat Michigan state 43-36... that is just boring basketball and too boot he couldn't win.. he set the program back quite a bit.My first real immersion into Iowa basketball was Dr Tom's first year (Gamble, Horton, Marble, Armstrong, Wright, Lohaus, Moe, etc.) which of course included Ravelings recruiting magic. The Lickliter jail term was the pure antithesis....low mid major athleticism, slow, boring and ultimately losing basketball. Wow so glad to have that nightmare behinds us.

Lick's teams averaged something like 56, 60, and 58 ppg in his three years. He beat Michigan state 43-36... that is just boring basketball and too boot he couldn't win.. he set the program back quite a bit.
