All u need to know about Nebby fans

I work for a major retailer in DM area as a GM. Had a guy come in few weeks back, right after bowl game, with a Nebby jacket on.
I said "u guys almost got to .500 this year"
Dude had a little boy with him and he started screaming and cussing at me as an "arrogant" Iowa fan.
He then stated that Iowa should wait a couple years til Nebby gets better.
1st acted like a butt hurt spaz then 2nd made a stupid statement about wait a couple years.
I see lots of them at my work and never met a "decent" human being among the bunch
 
How about something along the lines of "yeah tough year but we will be back". Certainly not F-bombs and yelling while with a young child.

I'm finding it hard to believe you're a GM at a major retailer. Way to instigate an argument with a customer, I'm sure you're employer would approve.

Also, starting threads about 'holers equates to obsession over them and gives them all the power...please stop.

I live in CB and have been around them for years. Most feel they are entitled but the knowledgable Husker fans are a joy to talk to. BS Hawkeye
 
I wonder how OP might have reacted if a Husker fan had said something similar to him, following one of Iowa's recent difficult years. Didn't Iowa have a 4-8 recently? I actually don't know, so if I'm wrong, I apologize.

Point is, we are all fans and nothing more. I love NU but have nothing against Iowa either. The people are largely the same kinds in both states. Generally humble, good people. Why would you try to poke someone when you know they're already down (as a sports fan). That just seems mean.

I actually root for Iowa right up until Black Friday. It's a joy when it means something to one of the teams. It will be an amazing day when it means something to BOTH teams, like a trip to the CCG and maybe the playoffs.

There are Husker fans that would behave as described, though I have my doubts about this particular claim. There are also Hawkeye fans that would do the same. And fans of both that would try to salt the wound of a bad season. These are the fans that make the rest of us look bad.

I have met many who can't take a joke... but they are pretty easy going fans. I think it gets easy to paint a fan base a negative way due to message board warriors. I have lived in Nebraska for 10 years and have had zero problems.

I'm sure you made that statement with tons of positivity and good intentions of having a great football conversation. If you usually approach conversations in this manor I can see why you don't think we're "decent." I've met a ton of great Iowa fans. And froze with them this year at the Heroes Game.
 
Bad move OP, I don't think a GM at a major retailer should greet a customer like that. I live in Omaha and the nebby fans are good guys and gals. Their only downfall is a lot of them still think it's 1996 and that Runza is the best restaurant ever.

LOL. Runza has had their better years. Every time I hear myself say, "These were better when I was a kid..." I ask myself if I'm getting crabby as I age. I gave my wife Amigos for the first time and it almost made her sick. No more Crisp Meat Burritos for me on trips home. Haha

Just heard guys on the radio talking about recruiting and Riley making a statement in his press conference today saying he didn't really like his class all that well. Is this really the case? If so, why did anyone sign with Nebby?

Bro, maybe that guy was having a bad day. Most Nebraska fans are cool. Yes we are passionate about our football in Nebraska. We are going to get better each year going forward and we will be playing for championships soon. Right now we have the 23rd best class in the nation according to rivals and next year we should have a top 10 to 15 class. I wish your team the best of luck next year.
You guys should be pretty good coming off a winning season.
 
i wouldnt piss on a nebraska fan to put out a fire, but your first mistake OP was to engage the husker in conversation about football.

Exactly, the only championships that I see in Nebraska's future are on volleyball.

I got a bad Runza from the Omaha hut at 120th and Center in November 1971. I still couldn't eat one today. That sandwich will live in infamy as will the massive vomit that ensued at my workplace.

There were some decent Nebraska fans at that time, but I never met them.

I'm not sure why Nebraskans make a big stink about Runzas. Their French fries are the best thing that joint has going for it. Their onion rings aren't bad, especially with the onion dip. But the runzas are generally pretty marginal.

I too hope OP is not Iowa fan. Regardless of the response, this is a classless thing to say unless you are ribbing a friend or acquaintance. OP is an the real a-hole here. Act like you've been there instead of smugly giving crap to strangers who wear their team's colors.

If the success of your college sports team influences the happiness in your day (especially a month later) your life may suck. If you are not looking for the opportunities to celebrate the positives of life you are doing it wrong.
 
The vast majority of replies by the Hawk fans in this thread has helped to restore my faith in humanity and Hawkeye fans. Congrats on a solid year.
