Disappointing End To a Disappointing Season...Will Next Year Be Worse?

I look forward to making my first trip next season to Kinnick Stadium. Has been on my Bucket List for a long time. IU returns a few more than the number of starters mentioned above:

- 5 starters on O (3 OL, Evans, Lynch, Smith; 2 WR, Sarratt, Cooper). Signed Mendoza from Cal at QB. Hemby from MD as likely RB 1. Tyler Morris from UM at WR. OL transfers from OSU and CU, the latter a return to IU, where he started for 2 years.

- 4 starters on D (3 of whom got All-American and All-Big 10 mentions in LB/Fisher, CB/Ponds, and DE/Kamara). The 2 DTs IU loses (West and Carpenter) will definitely be difficult to replace.

Hoping for a great day of tailgating and injury-free game for both sides next September 27th.

Been to manny with Hayden and Kirk over 35 yrs it is wonderful

Pretty harsh, I know. What we do know is we lost a handful of our top players. We also know that this team still cannot pass the ball and the defense looked more vulnerable than it has in years. It'll take some serious work to get to 8 wins. Let's see if they can do it.

Hard to envision 8 wins. Kirk usually loses one he shouldn't and wins one he wasn't supposed to. The latter stopped happening several years ago.

Could be looking at 4-8 very easily.

Watching the playoff games the last few weeks really highlighted the distance between Iowa and the playoff teams. It's a lot more than "Iowa needs a QB" or "an aggressive coach". Iowa will be no threat to make the playoffs next year.

Two wins early against cupcakes, two losses later to Oregon and PSU. So 2-2. The other 8 games are toss-ups to me. Win half and you've got 6-6.

It’s the speed but I believe Iowa’s schemes hinder the players ability to use it. The defense has had years where they looked pretty fast but they do play a base D and safeties are 15 yards away. When you have the athletes they fly around, when you don’t you see the kinda results we saw this year. Never seemed like they had the same big play capability. Castro must have been hurt cause he disappeared.

On offense even when we have a spread formation all the routes are 3-6 yard outs. Any catch is immediately tackled or out of bounds.

I agree with the estimate
0-2 against Oregon and PSU
2-0 against the cupcakes OOC
2-2
And every other game will be a toss up because those schools seem to have boneheaded coaching and undisciplined players.

With Kirk ball that’s a 50/50 shot at a 13-6 win or loss

Question is Law ... how did Ohio St only beat this soft, weak tackling, talentless team by only 4 TDs.
Next year will be a disaster. With the lame SDSU qb already seen a fraud. 2-10 is still in the cards. That roster is awful.
