The West gets No Respect from the East and the head to head is tied 7-7 in competition if memory serves.

This game is for respect, in conference and across the nation.

The season Iowa is having is a nightmare scenario for Wisconsin, Minnesota and Nebraska fans, not even mentioning Iowa State. Im sure they want this over ASAP

I disagree, a rivals success bolsters the prestige of every rivalry game we play.

Nebraska's main argument for looking down their nose at Iowa is because Iowa hasn't been successful enough. Win the B1G title and it will be time for them to start thinking differently.

Every rivalry game next year will be that much more important the more success Iowa has.

Put your petty jealousy aside.

I would pull for Wisc & Minn in this game over MSU for sure.

SEC teams pull for eachother every year because every strong program makes them be perceived as stronger by association.

This year, it is Iowa.

Every game that Iowa plays is significant because WE'RE in it. I could give two shits less about the team on the other side of the field. If you're worried about getting respect from other people, just kill yourself now, because it's never going to happen. Hasn't for the previous 125 years of Iowa football, and won't for the next hundred. Life is way too short to care what other people think all the time.

The Big 12 North became the laughingstock of college football. That definitely hurt Nebraska in the long run. The West needs to beat the East to change the narrative. Wisky getting rolled last year set up all the B1G West bashing this year.

What does this have to do with the fans? it has to do with the programs and trying to emulate winning 8 out of 10 national titles is something to try and mirror.

winning big helps recruiting across the conference. more kids come up North to play for michigan and osu and those programs don't end up taking Iowa's local/regional kids.

Nebraska fans are kinda split, same as Wisconsin. A lot of them have wished the Hawks well, the whole "go win the whole thing now". Others are your typical Hawk haters. Minnesota's entire fanbase qualifies. Haven't seen a well-wisher from their bunch yet.

The rest pretty much don't care because they were either out of it early on or are just indifferent (Northwestern, Purdue).

I live in TN. A lot of people hate Bama and Florida here. Many would root for someone in another conference rather than one of those two schools.

I do not believe it's a dumb argument at all. Winning the conference would give the west and the Big ten doing well in bowls will give both the division and conference some added respect nationally. That will only help us in future rankings
