Attended the Moore-Prettyman wrestling tournament (Barrington, IL) over the weekend, great tournament, twenty-eight teams. Anthony Cassioppi wins the heavyweight division, four wins, all first period falls. The quality of the heavyweight division was suspect, but then again where do you find high school heavyweights. I would forecast that Cassioppi will pin all opponents this year. I can’t see anyone really challenging him this year.

Hawkeye faithful are going to like Cassioppi. Not the biggest heavyweight, but very active with great offensive arsenal. He is on the attack at the whistle, not afraid to attack the legs, surprises most opponents with his quickness and aggressive, overall attack. Probably able to compete with most D-1 heavyweights at this stage of his career (high school senior). An observation; to be a champion one needs to act like a champion and behave like a champion. No ancillary buffoonery, Hawkeye wrestling fans know the bearing of champions.

ancillary buffoonery? Cant say I've heard that term before.. what exactly did he do?

Thanks for 'ancillary buffonery'. Great descriptive phrase. Way too much of that all over the place these days.

Heavyweight is very weak in illinois this year but the kid cass pinned in the finals is ranked third in the state. Also kind of interesting is joey Gunther's little brother Michael beat Cassioppis little brother Giovanni 2-1 in the finals at 138
