Is Markus Howard the front runner? I fear Luka's production is going to take a steep nose dive as teams follow Nebraska's example of triple teaming him. We'll see...

In the last 10 years, all of the Wooden winners have come from teams that were top 10 near the end of the year (with the exception of Doug McDermott). If we go on a run and end up at top 10 team throughout Feb and March, then yeah, absolutely. I, uh, kinda doubt that happens though.

Yeah unfortunately wins and losses make it a subjective matter.

If the Iowa women's team didn't have the success they had even if Megan Gustafson continued to dominate like she did, I doubt she wins the NPOTY.

Garza numbers will be limited if our 3 point shooting woes from the last game continue. He will be double and triple teamed if we can't hit 3's.

Not a chance. The only way is if Iowa finishes top 3 in the B10. Tough to give a National POY to a guy on a team that will finish .500 in the conference.

That 12% from 3 is a fluke. We've never been that bad that I can remember.

I agree that it was a fluke mainly for Joe W and for the team if everyone was healthy, but all things considered no one currently healthy outside of Joe can be considered an above avg 3 point shooter. To that end, I would not be expecting us to hit many more 3s outside of him until CJ is back on the court.

If he Grad. Transfers to Duke for next year then he's got a chance.

Next year, yes. Frank Kaminsky won it for Wisconsin in 2015, and Luka--IMHO--is better than Frank right now with a year and a half of eligibility remaining. Luka might deserve it this year, but he's highly unlikely to win it. But using this year as a springboard, he would be a serious top three candidate next season.

Frank won it after going to the final 4 in 2014...then went back in 2015. Wisconsin was a better team both years than Iowa is now.

Garza is having a great season. I would agree, the build up is for next season.
