Any elite transfer or juco guards available?

He was a top rated recruit out of JUCO and there were a lot of schools who wanted him.

He only had offers from Arkansas, Iowa, Washington and Nebraska for big schools and he committed at the end of his Sophomore year. Iowa State's top rated JUCO Point Guard committed in the summer before his Sophomore year and had offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Illinois, UNLV, Wichita State, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss and Memphis

Soo whats your point??? I see on the PG from IA westerns list the only decent school is Iowa and ISU. Illinois is terrible, UNLV is terrible, WSU okay pretty decent, Va Tech not good, Ole Miss and Memphis again not very good.

I was just pointing out Dickerson didn't have a lot of schools who wanted him like you said. Jackson committed well before Dickerson and he had a lot more interest.

Niang, Morris, Naz Long, and Matt Thomas are all HS recruits that have been the foundation of that program and then they mixed in transfers/JUCOs as missing pieces and it has worked out very well for them. Iowa has the foundation guys, they just need to add the other pieces via transfer for that boost in talent.

Ha, How about Ejim, Niang, M Morris and Matt Thomas to name a few and I think they turned out pretty well. Just because ISU doesn't pursue many high school players from the state of Iowa and none of the elite teams have been after Iowa recruits either. Iowa and UNI should be glad Iowa isn't recruiting Iowa players or I'm sure the other two Iowa teams would not be getting some of the high school recruits they are getting.

I don't know anything about the recruits Iowa has coming in next year but I wouldn't put my money on them beating Iowa State next year. In their respective conferences is a toss up because you never know how good other Big 10 or Big 12 schools will be either.

I was looking at the the more recent ISUcc recruiting at the tail end of the Fred " The Mayor" Hoiberg's tenure at the helm . Gone are their top 4 star recruits Nick Noskowiak and Clayton Custer. Their big man potential star Georgios Tsalmpouris left for European pro league. Now Prohm has to hit the jucos and mine the second and third tier levels of three star prospects to fill the holes of Hoiberg's transfer program. Iowa State has a lot a guards next year and few big with much game. Iowa State will be tossing alot of three bomb and will likely be beaten on the boards and in the paint. Iowa State will fall to WVU, Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and even Baylor as their team talents are better to much better than ISU's

The above average talents came from out of state and did not stay long in the program as transfers took the majority minute.I'll give credit for Morris as being very good and Matt Thomas as being alright but not 4 star material. Long is decent player but not a head liner without Nian. Morris won't get as many assists as this year in 2016-17 with the weaker inside game and Thomas will feel more pressure as defenses can avoid collapsing as much with ISUcc's weaker interior offensive game.

If that's your thoughts on Iowa State next year I can only imagine how bad you think Iowa will be next year who is doing a complete rebuild

I think there will plenty of question marks for both teams. Is Morris going pro? I think he should, I doubt his stock can rise any higher after this year.

Iowa will have more question marks than Iowa State. Iowa State has 4 players that are pretty proven in Monte, Naz, Thomas and Burton plus bring in a couple JUCO's. Iowa returns one player that averaged more than 6 points per game and will rely on underclassmen.

Morris is young for his class and he will be asked to score more next season. His stock can definitely go up.

I agree the Hawks will have more question marks next year. Hope the young guys surprise all.

If ISU makes the Elite 8 this year, Monte will be gone. There is no way he can duplicate that success next year and his stock will be WAY up.

Who does ISU have that can play in the post? I know Burton is a bigger body, but that's it?

Bringing in a 6'9 JUCO PF that had offers from Arizona and Kansas, a graduate transfer from Northern Illinois that will probably be a Hogue type player and Solomon Young that will be new next year. Have a couple freshman big guys on the bench and I would think Prohm will get one more big guy for next year, most likely a gradaute transfer or JUCO

The JUCO player Malou will be a pretty good addition for them

So preseason #1 for ISU then? If they guy got looks from Kansas and Arizona gotta be easily POY candidate right? Boy expectations 30-0 next year? Might be setting your self up for some disappointment.

With Monte back I would expect at best a 4 seed at worst an 8 seed assuming we bring in another big guy. Even if Monte leaves I still think Iowa State is a tournament team.

I think Dickerson was #1 PG from JUCO but in the 2nd or 3rd level of JUCO. Sort of like NCAA vs NAIA or whatever. Am I correct???

The school he played at is considered a Division II level JC.

But I think they were a Division I JC in hoops Region 13, kind of like a mid major of the Juco world.

Does not mean the kid was not good.

I think they could do better than a 4 seed. Name 2 or 3 better returning backcourts than Morris, Long, Thomas. You won't be able to.

I understand there are some unknowns in the frontcourt. Burton will take a step forward. He was a top 50 recruit and will be a senior and relied upon to score. Malou is a freak athlete 6 foot 9 with guard skills and rim protector. Bowie the grad transfer will surprise peoole.

For people saying Hoiberg did a poor job recruiting. What in the world are you talking about? Was he supposed to leave with the table set for the next five years or what? Iowa State was a preseason top ten team this year. That was his recruiting. They will also be a top 20 team next year.

Thanks for the update on ISU, this thread has been very informative. I would be interested in learning about who is available this year in the transfer/juco market that Iowa might have interest in. Someone should start a thread on that!

Why so salty

Im not, its just funny to hear all these projections from ISU fans. They think they will be a top team next year and we all know they will have to get through Kansas first. But if I was an ISU fan, Its all I would have to cheer for beings their football team is so bad. Every year I hear it at work from Clone fans how they are National Championship contenders and that they will win the Big XII.

I could care less what they do, they will be the dominate power in basketball for years to come. Iowa is not on their level and I don't know if we ever will be. Fran chooses to build his program his way and Prohm/Freddie chose their way. Thank god we only play them 1x a year, so its one week I have to hear it from Clone fans and then the rest of the year I can about not caring about them.

I'm not sure who is all avaliable but I would think Iowa would go after a Graduate Transfer PG ann maybe a last minute JUCO if there are any out there still good enough to take a look at. How many spots on the roster does Iowa still have to fill?

You are correct we are in a bad way for football hopefully CMC can change that down the line. Honesty with me basketball has always been my favorite sport to watch and play. So I always hope they do well in basketball more than I do football.

Fair enough, I work with some douchebags who couldn't even tell me the coach of ISU football program, but if they beat Iowa they walk around talking about ISU football. They are just dipsh!ts and annoying. One guy said yesterday that ISU is guaranteed for the final 4. He is buying tickets and setting up travel for it. I told him I would wait, he said they will beat Virgina by 15+ and the next game won't matter, they will win.

Any news on JUCO or Transfers? I see UNLV had a 4 star recruit at PG, anyway we can get him to change?? I noticed there are a lot of "undecided" kids left on Rivals top 150. Is that normal? I wonder if there are any Pitt, SFA, Oklahoma St players that would be available? I realize we need schollys for them, but I think we will have 2 open rides.

Whats the rule if a coach leaves, do the players get to transfer and not have to sit out?

I think that is everywhere with both fan basses and even UNI fans in my area but a smaller percentage. I do think they will beat Virginia but not by 15 and it will take a 100% effort on both sides of the court.
As for transfers the entire Hawaii team can transfer and be eligible to play immediately. I'm guessing there are so many top 150 guys not committed is for a few reasons either they are an academic risk or I'm a smaller sample size some kids may just be burned out on playing basketball and just want to move on with their lives and do things other than sports.

If a coach leaves, I think kids should be able to transfer w/out penalty of having to sit. If these coaches can change jobs like that, then I think the players should be able to as well.

I hate ISU football and basketball as much as any Hawk fan but they made the final 16 and Iowa didn't. I guess that gives their trolls a chance to rub it in a little. As far as next yr. goes Iowa has a lot of holes to fill and a lot of question marks as well. It may not be so much who starts for Iowa but what kind of depth they have coming off the bench. I look for Iowa to struggle as it will probably be a rebuilding yr. Iowa basketball compares well to Iowa football. In that it takes about 3-4 yrs. to develop their recruits to where they can make some kind of statement in the Big 10.

As far as ISU goes, I care little about them until Iowa has to play them.

How about these guys?
Shivaughn Wiggins – Coastal Carolina
Braxton Ogbueze – Charlotte
Novian Cherry, G, Jr., Savannah State
P.J. Hardwick, PG, Arkansas State
Ambrose Mosley, G, Jr., Old Dominion
Cameron Williams, PG, Jr., Eastern Kentucky

Or Juco route?...
Andre Wallace Iowa Western C.C.
Julian Walters North Dakota State College of Science
Ria'n Holland Indian Hills C.C.
Isiah Graves Southeastern C.C.

Some unknown's in the front court? Holy sh**, you lose your whole front court (2nd best scorer in the history of your program) and your hopes are on a juco guy who's never played D1 ball, and another transfer who averaged 10 and 5 at Northern Illinois. Good luck. Long has to get his medical redshirt, and his hips have to be ok to even be good again. Morris hasn't even stated if he is coming back. I'd try to enjoy this year.

Two words.

Jake Kelly.

Heard he's back in Iowa. Maybe he's taking a few classes this summer.

Abrahamson leaving Drake now? First Northwestern, now Drake. He must be fun to coach. Marlon Stewart from North Scott is leaving Creighton. Did Iowa every show interest in him? Lots of PG's moving around.

Abrahamson was a complete waste of space at Drake. The 41 point outburst was a fluke. For the ten fans that were still watching towards the end of the season, it was easy to see that Drake was playing better with him on the bench, even though they still lost. Don't think he even got on the court the last three games.

Can't believe he was a top 150 prospect. He'll have to transfer to a low-major D1 or D2 if he wants playing time.

Not so sure. ISU will be down 2 big breasts next season. Not sure how you replace those.

Goes to show some rankings don't mean crap. Some kids come out of high school highly touted and don't pan out. Meanwhile other players who are under ranked come in and make a name for themselves.

Anyways looking at twitter, I am guessing the "transfer" market is going to set an all time high. There are so many players leaving, its insane.

ISU is going to have some big shoes to fill losing a player that scored more points in his career than any Hawkeye player ever.

Dont you have anything better to do than attempt desperate pleas for attention from Iowa fans on an Iowa board on this quixotic mission of yours? Cyclone Fanatic surely could use your wisdom.
