My sister just moved there and I'm planning to visit. Any parts of town I should avoid? Any places I should scout in case I may want to relocate here as well? Would love to be where there are a lot of 24-35 year olds.

Dude, we need to focus on getting you a career first. What are you doing for income currently?

You will be my project, which is pretty rich because I barely qualify as an adult as it is..

As in all larger cities there are some unsavory areas. Outside the "Mile Square" of the downtown city center and closely adjacent areas (White River State Park and Lucas Oil Stadium) is a little rough. North of downtown about 5 miles is the Broad Ripple area near the Butler University campus that is the main young adult bar and restaurant area. It can be very crowded at times and parking is a bitch. To the east about 5 miles is Irvington that is a bit more eccletic and has a pretty established neighborhood core that makes it a fairly safe place to live, but it is lacking in amenities and is too close to the general east side of town which isn't as nice. I don't know much about the west side except the area north of the Indy Motor Speedway has a ton of ethnic eateries and draws a number of foodies there to eat, but not live.

Once you get near the I-465 loop around the city you get in to the county part of the city. These all tend to be nice places to live with good, but large schools and a nice mix of residential and retail areas.

Outside the county you have the bedroom communities which are too numerous to breakdown here.

IDK, what I want to do for a career, but a larger town may help my prospective search come along better. Right now I'm currently working the temp service route and living off of my 401k.

Go to the military, they will give you a job. Stay in for 4 years, it will look good on your resume. Or go to a CC for a trade. Electrician, plumber, mechanic...

It's all good. Plus you will need that 401k later

What bridge leads into Chicago?

Or LA, or Houston, or San Antonio. Check your sources, Yellow

I live in Fishers. If you like a perfectly vanilla, no surprises, no thrills lifestyle, Fishers is for you. If you like diversity, a younger crowd, fun atmosphere, etc., I would live in the Broad Ripple area. Carmel and Broad Ripple are both more expensive, while you can buy a lot more in Fishers... Even around the Geist Resevoir.
