I can't believe just how bad the Republican field is, especially the two leaders: Trump and Cruz.

The Republicans are going to go the way of the Whigs if they don't get their act together. I'm sure many, many Republicans are horrified by our current choices.

It's amazing because this should be an easy election for the Republicans to win the White House. Half the country hates Hillary. Bernie Sanders is a socialist. But the Republicans shoot themselves in the foot because they won't give us one decent candidate.

There are thousands of brilliant and ethical people in America; in business, academia, etc. Seems like the Republicans can't find one to run for President.

I'm not sure I agree. Kasich, Bush, Christie and Walker all showed they can lead even if I mostly disagree with the direction. The Rs just don't want a good leader. Rs are getting just what they want. A firebrand to burn the whole place down. The fault isn't with the candidates, but with the voters.

If Christie had lost weight coming into this election, and "bridgegate" didn't happen he would have just been able to walk away with the election. I think if Kasich would ever get steam he has a chance. I am shocked on how uncharismatic Rubio actually ended up being. The country I would think is too hungover from drinking too much Bush in the past, and I don't think they could drink it again.

I think I would honestly rather have Trump over Cruz.

I think the most competent choice would be Chris Christie.

He wasn't a total disaster as Governor. He's competent. Doesn't seem completely insane.

I'm endorsing Chris Christie for POTUS!

For me I would have to go with Rand. I would have to think things would at least look better for the 4th under him, and the foreign policy would probably be less warhawkish. He did vote against the TPA. Although I am not 100% on his position relative to the TPP. It is just the Ayn Rand influence on him that would really turn me off.

If Hillary gets the nomination she will lose to Trump. Bernie would beat Trump. Cruz loses to both.

American public opinion is swinging once again hard agaiant typical insiders.

Agreed about Paul but he's basically dropped out.

Not at all Trump and Cruz both are brilliant men who don't act like pussies. Thus, the left hates them. No one that is capable of breathing can honestly look in the mirror and say they'd prefer Bernie or Hillary over those two if they have an ounce of American pride in them.

Trump? I think he has evolved into what he us now. Christie made out with obama and that made him a dem(ok joking they did not kiss, they walked on the beach)

The choices on each side are equally terrifying.

I have said it once and I will say it again. We have gone down this road before with McCain and Romney and we lost. Washington needs to be taken on and that goes for both parties, if you don't want anything to change then vote for Bush, Kasich, etc. I for one am sick of the BS coming from both parties that is why Trump and Cruz are gaining all this support and I for one will vote for either. I will not vote if Bush or Kasich is the nominee, and I will not vote for McCain in his re election bid

That had nothing to do with Christie's lack of success.

You see...he thanked Obama once...and might have shook his hand. When that happened he went from Right Wing Icon to Liberal pansy just like that. No policy change. No different stances on issues. Just thanked the president for helping his state out after a hurricane, and the morons on the right magically baptized him a liberal. And people are surprised we get Trump and Cruz out of the GOP?

Excellent post. Nothing more I could add.

The Republican base is scary.

The worst part is there are actually a couple Republican candidates worth voting for, but they have zero chance of getting the nomination. Which is why I still say Trump is a Clinton mole.

I must be one of the few people on the planet that actually thinks Hillary looks like a decent candidate compared to the entire clown show that is the GOP field.

And I mean all of them.

It was more than a handshake. It was a bro hug.

Love is in the air...

Republicans should love Trump. He is actually expanding the base.

well, yes, once is all it takes. too bad we let some people get away with it multiple times.

nope, she looks like a decent cell dweller, jail cell

this is why biden is making noise

Not sure why OP limited question to republicans. Can't imagine many democrats are ecstatic about any of their candidates either.

yes. he is. blacks, Hispanics, democrats, independents. republicans do love trump. it's the gop-lite rino liberals that have a problem with trump.
You already know none of that matters. The Bilderbergs want Jeb. It will be hard to rig the caucuses seeing as those votes are strangely public, but Jeb just has to show well in New Hampshire right? An out of nowhere 2nd place with a win in S. Carolina and he is in. They could pull that off with a computer virus. S. Carolina has electronic voting. New Hampshire still uses paper, but its a small state, I'm sure they can get the people to cover the state.

Yes. They (the GOP field) make GWB look like Reagan in comparison.

Truer words were never spoken.

The entire group...repubs and dems....at least all the candidates with a shot are pretty bad.

Going to be a "lesser of two evils" election.

Still don't understand how a rich, glorified salesman has so many Republicans fooled. Trump has built his lead on appealing to the baser instincts of (hopefully) the least educated Americans.
Then there is Cruz who may be the most self serving and despised politician in decades. Apparently, no one that knows the man can stand him. That these two men lead in Iowa does not speak well of the conservatives in this state.

I don't know, but around me I see lots of Trump stickers on high end luxury cars and luxury SUVs. Now that isn't a sign of education or intelligence, but for the most part, idiots don't have access to the capital to drive $90k cars.
