I am assuming this is pretty simple and I am just going to have it replaced as opposed to trying to get one that is 6 years old serviced. Best brands? This one is a Bradford White 6 year and our other one is a 12 year GE that is 3 years old so Im not replacing that one of course. Do better brands make much of a difference?

The American Indians boiled water over the camp
fire. In this manner they always had control over
the result, not too hot and not lukewarm. May you
find your water at the right temperature every time.

I can't help you. My water heater is part of my geothermal heating/cooling system.

I just want to congratulate you for referring to a water heater instead of a hot water heater.

Why do you want to congratulate him? Water's hotness/coolness is a matter of personal preference.

Show me a water heater that has hot water hooked to the input, and I'll show you a plumber with serious issues.

Is it not heating water? It probably just needs a new thermocouple. If it's leaking, then get it out.

If it's not leaking don't replace it. Depending on what you have, a 40 or 50 gallon, to have a plumber buy and install a new one is anywhere from 800-1200 dollars, at least here in KC. Most heaters will get you at least 10-12 years. Bradford White is a good brand and a good heater.
