Anyone Been to Stockholm / Copenhagen Etc?

I have been to Denmark twice, Copenhagen and Odense were wonderful.

Also been to Norway three times. absolutely fabulous. Oslo was great but loved Bergen even more. Be sure to do the Norway in a Nutshell trip. There are different ways to do it. We started in Bergen, took a train up into the mountains, then a bus down to the Songnefjord where we caught a ferry around the Fjord to Flam. From Flam we took a cog train up an incredibly steep incline to the top of the mountain and switched to a regular train back to Bergen.

Norway in a Nutshell

I’ve spent a lot of time in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. My recommendation is to spend most of your time in Norway - especially if you enjoy nature. Norway in a Nutshell is @Torg mentioned is a great intro. Stay over in Bergen and bring your hiking shoes and rent a kayak. Endless options.

If you’re a city vacation guy though, Stockholm is better than Oslo or Copenhagen IMHO so I’d weight staying there longer over the others.

I was in Stockholm, July 2018. 1912 Olympics were held there. The Olympics Jim Thorpe starred in and later had medals taken. Really enjoyed stadium. Took a boat tour around Stockholm and found it interesting.
Thanks Lute.

We also went to a ABBA museum .
One thing I found amazing is the VASA museum. It's a ship that sank on its maiden voyage in 1628. It was pulled up from the bottom of the sea in 1960s nearly in tact. Type of water preserved the ship.

Ooooh, good call. The Vasa museum is excellent. That has to be one of the biggest “oh shit” moments in history.

Yes this was very cool.

There is a living history museum called Skansen. Sort of like Conner Prairie or Colonial Williamsburg.

There are the usual attractions of older European cities like churches, palace tours, royal parks, art and history museums. Gamla Stan is the oldest part of the city on a small island that contains the royal palace and the main government buildings. It is also packed with small shops and restaurants.

There are also a number of great natural spaces outside the city but not as dramatic as the Norway coast.

We had a leg up as good friends of ours live in Stockholm. We went over Mid-Summer holiday and had a great time. Our friends have a cabin outside the city where we spent some time.

Spent a few weeks in Finland and Norway in summer 2022 with a brief stop in Sweden. I concur with Norway - what an amazing place. Scandinavian people don't seem to be so angry and angsty. Food was great, scenery unreal, and lots of stuff to do in Oslo and across the countryside. Finland is just like northern Minnesota.

Never been to Stockholm but I loved Oslo and Copenhagen, probably Copenhagen the most.

Both cities had good traditional recreated villages a little outside of downtown.

Spent 10 days in the Göteborg area probably a dozen yrs. ago. Took the no pic tbw and two kids (12 and 10 then). Stayed with a college buddy who was living and working there at the time. Loved it !! The people were friendly and laid back. Food was awesome. Scenery was fantastic !! Explored some archipelagos. Women were beautiful.

We spent a few days in Orebro. Warmest summer in 300 years and no air conditioning in our hotel.. Pretty cool looking outside late in the evening and still daylight.

The "midnight sun" is very interesting. We were on vacation so we were off a schedule for the most part but we found ourselves still active very late into the night due to the amount of light.
