It's when I knew the hawks were winning the game. Numerous times throughout the game the hawks would go on a mini run and push their hands down like "calm down"

It was a mentality that they were going to take care of business and not to lose focus until the game was decided. Connor McCaffery was doing it a lot. Don't remember a time where I've seen our team maintain that level of focus for a whole 40 minutes. This team has great leadership and mental toughness.

Maybe it was focus.. but there was a point where ISU was making a run and they showed Bohannons face and I just got this feeling in my gut that the Hawks were going to let them come back again. I told my wife 'I don't like the look on his face'. Maybe I have just seen this play out the wrong way too many times, lol. Thankfully, I think you are right in hindsight and it's a nice win, but there are bigger fish to fry. Hope this is a special year until the end! Proud of this team!

I think it was yesterday evening the sports talk show was also discussing Fran's demeanor on the sideline as well. He is trying to be better at regulating his temper and outbursts because the team feeds off it, both positive and negative. The discussion was that if he loses his top the team tends to lose focus as well.
I did see the times when the team was calm despite an ISU run and was able to turn away any momentum.

Yep and after the win last night and at Syracuse, they weren't celebrating like they might have in year's past. Just acting like it was expected. I usually don't get into things like that, but it's noticeable with this team.

I for one knew ISU was going to make a run early in the second half...the crowd was too juiced for one not to come. When they knocked it down to 7 (?) only for the Hawks to answer with a huge run of their own...that is when I knew two things:
1) Iowa was going to win.
2) I couldn't remember the last time I saw the composure/focus that the entire Hawkeye team had, from coaches to the players to the walkons...they all had it.

I don't know that I would agree. Our guys celebrated in the locker room pretty hard. They also taunted the ISU fans a bit. That is to be expected after what Niang and co started.

I expect the celebration in the locker room. I'm talking on court. I didn't see the jumping around giddiness we usually would see in the past after a big win.

I did see first timeout bench going nuts and Fredericks telling everyone to calm down ....very impressive for a frosh

Hate to say it, but the teams 4 or 5 years ago would’ve folded like a cheap tent when Iowa State made that run. These guys have a grit and toughness to them. Connor’s 3 was huge to stop the run

Huge shot. They kept daring him to shoot and he did. I was yelling at the tv for him to shoot the fricken ball, even if he misses.

I think CM, CJF, LG, JBO, JW,JT bring a very competitive/toughness to the team we have not seen in years past. It is very nice to see for a change IMO.
Fran's had a few guys over the years that were leaders and tough, I think of Woodbury, White, Gatens, Cole. But never this many at one time and never a ball handler. I think if you look at the most successful teams we've had, they all had 2 or maybe 3, always including the point guard.
