Thatās pretty impressive, honestly. Which makes the fact Iowa hasnāt won the West since 2015 all the more head scratching. I know some fans wonāt like this, but that winning percentage has a lot to do with beating inferior non-conference opponents and Iowa State. In fact, when is the last time Iowa lost a non-conference game outside of a bowl game? Iowa State 2014?
Donāt get me wrong. The record speaks to the consistency of the program and is impressive. However, that winning percentage is mostly reflective of beating Iowa State, MAC and directional schools, and the bottom feeders of the B1G Ten (like Nebraska, Illinois, etc.). For every win against Ohio State and Michigan, there are at least two WTF? losses to Northwestern and Purdue. Frankly, Northwestern and Purdue are largely why Iowa hasnāt won the West since 2015.
