Brands said there’s 2 appeals left. Anyone know is that 2 more appeals for everyone suspended? 2 guys working on appeals? Or even when those appeals will be heard. Can’t be a whole lot of time left you’d think before it’d be too late for it to even matter this year.

Hmm I’d take brands and cass if that’s the case.
If, big if, Cass were to win an appeal, how does he compete with Kerk and the rest of the top heavies if he's really dropped a bunch of weight?

Before the all star, I would have said he could still be competitive IF he wrestled a flawless match.
Now, it’s Kerk almost on his own tier. Followed by Wyatt on his own tier.

Are these appeals any different than the other wrestlers that have been denied? Is there any reason for hope or just a perfunctory thing to do?

Tom said something about an out-of-state lawyer at one press conference, so I assume it's Cass and Assad (Illinois). All the other guys penalized are Iowa HS wrestlers except Kennedy, whose penalty is up already.

Abe's Mom already posted he was done fwiw.
I would have to think Nelson would be one and possibly Cass but Cass down to 213 for FS makes me wonder on that.

It is crazy to think that Cass is 213 and will wrestle folk at HWT this year. Possible, but, probably not the best recipe for any kind of success.

Unfortunately, I don't think any of the appeals are going to go our way.
I never expected them to be changed, but then I go read cass isn’t going to sr nationals this weekend so I got some hope. And then I came here and see this post.

Cass simply can’t compete with Kerk anymore. The gap keeps getting bigger. He’s not beating Hendrickson either. He’s going to be battling the Cuban, Davison and a handful of others for 3rd. 4th if Gable comes back.

Where did you see that Cass isn't going to senior nationals??
That would be a big surprise to me.

And that was at 250 or whatever he weighed last year. I'd gladly take Cass back for another run but a slimmed down Cass is going to struggle.

More information please!!!

Well if that suspension gets overturned he’s going to have a rough time in D-1 at heavy. Way too small to hang with the big boys. Lifestyle wise he probably feels a lot better being so much lighter/healthier.

Have you been hiding under a rock my man?? lol
You didn't know he was wrestling 97 kg??

AJ would not win heavy against Kerk or Wyatt and would struggle against Davison and Bastida
Agree, he looks like a big 197 now, like he was as a freshman. Think he stopped growing a while ago. The thing the amazed me his true freshman year is how he was winning matches against season veterans with horsepower. He may be rusty, but he still works out like crazy, so that horse power is still there. He will have to go hard in the room with Cass keuter and Warner to shake off the rust, and maybe enter some open tournaments to get matches quick. Of course, it’s almost Christmas and we haven’t heard a peep from him about his plans for next semester, so this all may be a moot point.

For the last two years, AJ has been attention whoring and fighting legal battles and hasn’t wrestled a single match in any competition of any kind. Everyone should probably temper expectations for this year. LOL.
Although there are legit reasons to temper expectations, it IS also absolutley reasonable to believe someone that won a pretty solid weight class as a freshman is capable of winning it all again...

Cass's height and reach disadvantage has more to do with him failing to compete than his weight.
Agree. I still don't really buy the whole heavy Cass was a better Cass argument. As per my memory no version of Cass really ever came close to Steveson. Light Cass last year came close to Paris in the Dual but then got smoked at Nationals. Every other match with Paris was not particularly close. Cass had Kerk's number early in Kerk's career especially when Kerk was hurt but I don't see any version of Cass beating any version of Kerk going forward. I'm not sure about Hendrickson as I don't really remember him much pre 2023 but he seems to be a monster now and I don't think any version of Cass would have beat this version of Hendrickson. Light Cass beat Wood and lost to Wood and I think the reason he lost mostly was the injury he suffered against Hilger at Big Tens. To me Cass just does not have the frame to really compete with with the taller heavys. I think he would be a monster if there was a 225 or so class or at 97KG
