2.1 seconds to go, down 3 points, sideline out of bounds. Good coaching and execution usually gets you a contested desperation shot or chance to miss and rebound free throw.

Iowa gets wide open corner 3 from best shooter to keep title hopes alive. Wow,

Take a look at the play, chaos formation with movement. PERFECT timing of tunnel double screen, perfect timing of Jok cut, perfect timing of Uhl solid screen.

Unbelievably great preparation and execution, championship level stuff. Too bad he missed.

Agree. That loss didn't sting as much as others. Maybe I am numb, but I think it is because of what you point out. At least we executed something resembling an organized plan to get a shot vs. Gesell dribbling the clock out and getting swatted or Uthoff fumbling a pass with two guys in his shorts and heaving a 25 footer.

It was a great play. If the Hawks play as they did last night and get just a couple more stops they can beat almost anyone outside of maybe MSU, Villanova and Virginia.

Yep, with all the things you can criticize Fran for, that last play wasn't one of them. Just proves that you can call any play you want... if the players can't hit shots... it doesn't matter.

Iowa had two chances to send it to OT... and pissed both of them down their leg.

That play had a 41.6% chance of succeding.
pissed both of them down their leg.

Not sure its fair to equate missing a 20' jump shot with pissing down the leg.

Another positive from the game: defense with Wagner, Uhl, Baer, and Williams on the floor flashed a spark of team identity (and potential and ability). Next year will be fascinating, hopefully.

Yeah but Fran recruited those players so ultimately it was his fault because he didn't recruit players who could make those shots in that situation, as some idiots, particularly the ones who use this same excuse for Ferentz, would have you believe.

It was well executed and as a coach that's what you can control. I thought Jok pulled the string....no follow thru

To me the question is does Fran have the guts to sit 'his' seniors and play others? Running this same starting 5 out there is going to yield the same predictable play. Nothing to lose at this point and only good experience to be gained by younger guys. Infuse the younger guys into the lineup and spread the floor. Not saying bench the starters, but the small lineup gave us a much needed spark last night and Woodbury is an offensive liability in an up tempo game.
