Are prosthetic arms necessary?

No.

And even if one said they were, the high-tech one shown in that report certainly would not be.

But of course this thread title and that report has an agendum, so to hell with nuance.

Mark, keep spreading your Bhole for big insurance. Can’t stop. Won’t stop.

How about a liver or a time limit on anesthetic?

The thread title is simply asking what the article is asking.

Avoiding the question of whether this is just is not a nuanced take. It’s burying your head in the sand.

Right. And both are asking a question far more nuanced than the wording. Is a prosthetic a medical necessity? No, but I think it should be covered. Is the highest functioning prosthetic a medical necessity? I don’t think so.

What a weird special interest, Mark.
Well, that is because you may not be seeing the bigger thing I passionate about: it is unhealthy, and dangerous, that so many people think there is always a bogey man holding them down.

There will be some GoFundMe or some celebrity that will buy this kid an arm.

I'd bet my left arm on it.

Are you being obtuse or are semantics also a special interest of yours. I'm just asking questions here bud.
Well, I’m asking why you think this topic is a special interest to me, versus many others I opine on.

So you think it should be covered. Why? Because it’s a necessary to live a normal life for this kid? You are complaining about semantics, for what reason exactly? It seems like everyone understands the point being made here but you…. No one thinks this is needed to survive. You are complaining about nuance, but are just ignoring it. Weird stance to take.

“It” what? A basic prosthetic or the high tech one the mother and daughter want?

See the nuance? Where is that nuance in the thread title?
So you’re incapable of analyzing something without the obvious explained to you every single time?

High tech; the one the doctor recommended.

High tech; the one the doctor recommended.

Did the doctor recommend this one for this kid?

Article: “Select Health would not respond, citing privacy laws, when asked why they are denying coverage if doctors say the prosthetic is medically necessary”.

That’s poor writing.

Must an insurance company approve it if a doctor says it’s needed? No.

What's his handicap? Single digit?

Some 3d printed arms might help kids like that get their prosthetic arms. Shouldn’t have to be that way tho.
