In one word, no. But I think we’d be looking at a sustained run in the top 25 and threatening the top 15 at some points in the season.

Nunge, no. Just doesn’t bring enough of what we need to the table. Bad defense for the position he wants to play. Not enough offense to make up for the bad defense. Has to play away from the basket on offense because of Garza, which basically voids his height advantage. Honestly the kid is 3 or more inches too tall for his skill set. Being shorter and lighter would improve his agility and athleticism and make him a decent SF/PF hybrid.

Moss, CJ has replaced him and is doing a better job all around. We could have used Moss today when CJ went down, but otherwise we have adapted to not having him. He wouldn’t push us higher than we already are.

JBo, not the JBo that was playing earlier this season. But a fully healthy one would really help us hold a top 25 spot if not higher.

A freshman year, healthy, Pemsl would really help us too. Not top 15, but I wouldn’t be as worried about the team running out of gas in February.

Cook, if he decided to be a defense and garbage man on offense would push us into the top 20. Play weakside to Garza and the shooters, crash the boards on the opposite side of the shots. Don’t worry about getting fed the ball as all inside touches should go to Garza. Exert max effort on D at all times. I don’t know if he would be willing to do that though.

This team is one injury from collapsing, and if CJ is out for weeks with this foot thing, it may have occurred already. But if CJ and everyone else left is healthy, they are one Aaron White-like athletic PF that doesn’t need the ball in his hands all the time away from competing for top 5 in the conference at the end of the season, which challenges for top 15-20 nationally this year.

C.J wasn't having his best game yesterday, but if he's 100% we win that game IMO. The kid is one hell of a player when healthy. Better than Moss ever was, and it's not debateable.

JBo MAY be the best player in the ENTIRE country in the last 2 minutes of a closely contested game, Home or Away. He IS Iowa's dagger, and has proven it time and time again.

You lost me when you added Moss to the equation....he left on his own accord, as far as we know....he gone! Cook left as well, he gone! They aren't on this roster anymore....either is Dailey, you didn't mention him...not worth it?
Iowa with Nunge and JBO, even in his limited capacity, would diffidently make this team better as well as Patrick playing whatever minutes he could, but they too are gone!
We now have a limited roster of good and not so good players. Kriener, Joe Toussaint and C.J. when healthy, appear to have the guts to step forward and help this team on both sides of the ball.
Somehow Fran must manipulate Connor, Evelyn, Pemsl and Till to contribute something to the defense, without allowing the offense to break down multiple times a game.
As Iowa gets into the BIG schedule this is going to tax the coaching staff to the max. I'm not sure this staff is up to the challenge from what I've seen so far, still 17 games and a conference tournament to go so, there's lot's of time to see what Fran comes up with...this season started out with much promise, but as the injuries continue to mount, it's beginning to morph into past seasons we're all too familiar with....

A 100% healthy Bohannon keeps this team
in top 20 for the whole season. Nunge and
Moss are not impact players for Hawkeyes.

We’re actually better without Nunge but with the other two then most likely yes.

I see yesterday, Moss came up big again for Kansas....what a great get for coach Self:rolleyes:

The fact that you can’t see what Conner brings to the team leads me to doubt your conclusions. He was sick yesterday and fought like hell in a miserable environment.

He might not fill the box score, but he is key in defending the 4, was also the guy who brought the ball up against pressure and made this team a tough out when he slid down to allow us to go 4 guards.

He’s not a shooter. I get that. He makes his free throws. He is a tough fighter who doesn’t make a ton of mistakes and his effort can’t be questioned. He’s not M Jordan, but this is a better team because of him. I like his toughness and IMO it rubs off on the others.

I get it, college basketball is more then just putting the round ball in the proverbial peach basket, but can you really sit there as you're watching Connor, and say to yourself he's the son of a successful multiple college head coach. I don't, Connor is as much of a 1 dimensional player as they come.
A point guard is suppose to get the ball into the right hands to allow for easy scores, play defense and score when givin the opportunity.
Alright, he's not the primary point guard anymore, as Toussaint is now the man, C.J. should be getting the rest of the minutes behind J.T., but Connor handles the ball plenty and as opponents did last year, they sag off Connor as is not looking to score.
I put Connor in the same mold as Evelyn as both of them don't have the skill or stomach to provide additional offensive help for Garza or Wieskamp which in turn puts enormous pressure on Luka and Joe to carry the load.
I understand the situation surrounding Patrick and his not playing, but it baffles me to know end. how Connor has not developed a better all around game with his family background and all the basketball he has been brought up with.... 24/7 for his entire life. This only happens at Iowa....

Moss would not make that much of a difference. Nice try, though.

This team with a healthy CJ, JoBo, Patrick, and Nunge would be top 15. Sky's the limit.

I think they're top 15 if everyone they currently have was healthy.

Nunge being out forced Fran to go to a 4 guard line-up and the team immediately played better. I think a healthy Patrick would be the best addition.

You make such little sense with so many words.

You make such little sense with so many words.

Yep, when you get to my age, over 70, sometimes you get that way...:D, not apologizing though, not at all. I think you got my drift, even if I was a little wordy...

I replied "No" only because they would be top 15 without Moss. He's a quality player, but they really need JoBo as their leader. Then add in Nunge for depth so Pemsl isnt counted in for meaningful minutes.

For what it’s worth Conner is third on the team in rebounds and leads the league in assists to turnovers. Just a couple of numbers for box score guys. To me he’s a glue guy for this team.

Last year you may have had some points, but Conner is playing at a different level this year.

losing nunge and jbo hurts so I can't see this as a top 15 team. I was one of the people who didn't expect much from the team this year. I don't think anybody honestly saw Garza turning into King Kong this year(yeah, I'm going there. Also would that make him "the yeti"). I call bubble team this year given the lack of depth and growing pains for certain guys. Those growing pains and the lack of depth pay off next year. Top 10 to top 15 team and a 3 or 4 seed next season.

we do need depth.....
This^. We’re better without Nunge? The guy played a few games for the first time in 2 years. I would sure take Moss over Connor which ironically is probably the reason he left. Sorry but when a 3 year starter transfers from a good team that doesn’t make the coach look very good. Wieskamp, CJ and Moss would be a nice wing rotation. With Garza,RK,Nunge and Pemsl forming a solid frontcourt. A healthy JBO with a future star in JT would have been just as good as MG & AC. I think Cook is the only guy that would have been a minus for this team but who knows. I guess we just enjoy this 91-92 team clone and hope we don’t get Duke in the round of 32. P.S. Connor is a solid backup 3 and that’s his ceiling.

I feel like I say this every year, but I really long for a Gabe Olaseni type who can give us 15-20 minutes of good post D off the bench. Garza is never going to be a great rim protector, but he is decent, and quite limited by the fact that he has to carry a big load on the other end, be in position to rebound out of the zone, AND has to avoid fouls like they're the plague.
