If this is the nonsense that GOP/MAGA supporters consume daily, it’s no surprise they have their heads buried in the sand. They’ve been conditioned to believe that Trump’s actions follow some grand strategy and will somehow succeed—while conveniently ignoring the very real and troubling consequences we all will feel and put us in a recession.
The reasons changes daily which tells me he has motives different than he and his administration are stating.
For one reason and one reason only. To pay for his upcoming tax cuts that where quasi approved by the senate today. These tariffs serve 2 benefits today. 1) smokescreen for the tax cut. 2) fund said tax cut so suckers like you and I can pay for the top 5% soon to be fortunate wealth.

I should have been more specific. I’m not referencing the OP, but the burn it down replies that followed come from posters who are most definitely not sitting back and watching it burn.
He used Tariffs in his first term, and because they were targeted they were fairly successful.
The initial reason for the tariffs was for fairness, going with reciprocal tariffs to negotiate and bring tariffs down. That is why for the most part investors thought these would be temporary with potential for some positive outcomes. I listened to CNBC yesterday where the financial minister. Said they would take off all their tariffs. That has potential, the issue was he said so far no one from the White House had contacted was willing to negotiate. So it’s either a song and dance and Trump wants wins or there are anterior motives.
These tariffs appear to be more long term tariffs, and as stated above to try to appease republicans to push through another tax cut even though it isn’t paid for. Trying to create an offset. That is why the market tanked last night. Even still volatility premiums only really go through tomorrow then calm down. I think the market will readjust next week.
If you buy nothing it will make it worse for him... stop buying anything that isn't a necessity. Looks like my new car will have to wait a bit.
