You would take someone with her experience back. She is a great teammate and a big help to the younger players. Even if she lost minutes, having her as an example would be valuable. She plays with the energy you want all players to exhibit.
She does turn 24 in May, so the likelihood of her returning may be low, but now that they are paying players, who knows?
This. She IS a really good defender, BUT she's still in her 5th year very inconsistent playing basically a scorers position. Still with the really bad TO's as well. I just shook my head at that cross court pass she "launched" at Guyton that went about 6ft over her head. How do you even do that? Yes she's a good team mate but Jan really needs to strike NOW while the iron is still hot, be it through high school stars or the portal. I feel the same way about AOG and she's had some good moments on the offense, but she's still not a good defender and a poor rebounder for 6'3", not to mention with Jan going smaller, her playing that backup post is stunting Heidens growth. I have mixed feelings about Syd. She a DAWG on the boards.. She's probably the best rebounder vs minutes played that I can remember ever playing for the womens team.Great young lady, but, no. She is too error prone as a 5 year player in college. Surely the staff can do better either recruiting or a transfer.
I feel the same way with Addy and Syd. They are role players and on many teams, reserves. I'm not being disrespectful, but we need to move on and give new or younger players time to develop.
The senior leadership she can provide would be very valuable when it comes to bringing the "younger hot-shots" up to speed. No way you won't bring her back if she is available.Great defenders still only guard one player at a time and even with reduced minutes, those are minutes that can benefit our younger hot-shots. I'm sure most of the recruits prefer a shot at the floor over watching a great defender.
Iowa reloads. Rebuilds are for wimps.Like to watch her play and seems like a great person. That said, next year is a rebuild year. Play this years freshmen and the three new players coming in next year. This will make for a rough year in 2026, but will get these two classes ready for 27 and 28 when we should be able to play with anyone. Kylie will not be around for 27 and 28, so she should not be brought back for the rebuild of 26. The key is to keep the young players coming back until they are Jr's and Sr's.
Is the men's team reloading with blanks?Iowa reloads. Rebuilds are for wimps.
