I would think so. Two projected top 5 NBA lottery picks, and you'll probably finish in the bottom 1/6 of the league, get shut out of the BTT, and even miss the freaking NIT. That is a disaster rather than a mere disappointment.

Why in the heck didn't they spend a few million to get those guys a passable supporting group of players? Probably could have done it for less than a million actually....what a criminal waste of talent.

Well Rutgers gets Iowa at home on February 12th.

The freshman should be kicking their chops for that matchup. Should be a good get-right game for the Scarlett Knights!
 
Harper had 0 points last nite.
He missed their last game w flu also.
Without Harper RU is pretty average.
Strong frosh class with Harper, Bailey Sommerville and a 4th whose name escapes me.
If they could keep that class on campus for 3-4 years they could be very good but Harper and Bailey are gone to NBA after this year.
Hard to build a program with top guys.

They foul, up 2 at end of regulation.

I doubt it. He is a local guy.
I think he is ok coach and decent recruiter.
And seems like a good guy from outside.
Wish we has Garcia.
They got Garcia and fox as bigs...might rival Hawks as smallest team in BIG.

It's not that they lost vs tOSU, it's HOW they lost.

Coach was yelling foul before 2nd free throw was taken.
Now he yelled this assuming it will be made and they go up by 3.

He should have waited til the free throw was made to yell foul.

Kid should have known time and score, but coach had plenty of time after free throw was made to yell foul.

Goofs seem to be the worst team in the BTT. After the Wisky game, Hawks better have a big bounce back game, or I am not sure we won't compete for the bottom half of the league.

I think it will be easier from now on seeing as how the NIL can provide a kid a great income. Their hearts may still be in the NBA, but that will remain a pipe dream for most of these kids.

Why bother with that play in game between #15 and #10? Seems like an unnecessary contest to me, especially if you finish 15th in the league.
 
That is some almost menacing passive/aggressive coachspeak from Cronin....classic.
Glad we do not play UCLA next.

I do think Cronin can get away with that type of scathing critique of his players because:
1. Hall of Fame credentials
2. He knows he has the talent to make a run.

Fran would never go off on his players(like many hawk fans would like after a Wis loss) as not his style.
But he also knows his team is not as talented and we are going to be on the razors edge every BIG game and he needs to nurture confidence rather than tear them down.

Ohio State called for a foul on the floor. Oregon 2 FTs with 7.5 left. 2 FTs for Shelstad and Oregon leads by 1.
 
rutgers fails again.
What little I watched of it they were undisciplined and not cohesive as a team. Not surprising with 2 first year players probably already thinking about the draft. Truckloads of ability that is not being put to good use.

Tonite features UCLA at RU and Minny at MD.
MD beat UCLA over weekend so Bruins are hungry for win.
RU is desperate already as is winless gophers.
Go gophers and knight's.
UCLA 18 RU 17 w 9 minutes 1st half.
UCLA has a 7'3" Spaniard that could pose issue for Owen on Friday...run him.

RU has sold out their arena for BIG play. They are 8-8(1-4).
Hype sells.

Gophers hot from arc(5 -7) and leads MD 25-23 w 7 minutes 1st half.

They will be very desperate on Friday when Hawks come to pauley pavilion.
RU is a totally different team when Harper is healthy like tonite.
They will be dangerous.
