B1G offensive fouls

Taking a charge and not committing a charge can be signs of disciplined players. So, not surprising Wisky is on top.

But, looking at Illinois, it can be an indication of very quick, athletic players that play aggressive defense.

Iowa is neither - thus a terrible showing.

I don’t think the number of Iowa’s offensive fouls o bothers me much. Most teams here have a number in the 50’s. Many of them also play slower than us. If you adjusted this chart for tempo, the numbers would shift.

But you can also apply that to defense. Michigan and Iowa are tied for last in fouls taken. But Iowa played faster than them last year. So Iowa is the least likely team to take a charge in the conference.

Might be because of all the wide open jumpers Iowa's opponents get. Why drive to the hoop when you can shoot an easy jump shot?

Anything from +10 to +10 is not that much of a difference given the number of games played. And does this include illegal screens, or just charges? The fact Iowa ranks low is not surprising. You have to put the opponent in a position where they get out of control to take an offensive foul, and Iowa doesn't do that very often.

Just shows how much the officials favored Wisconsin over the course of a whole season! LOL. If the Badgers started playing defense like other teams. I would be very disappointed. The consistency on the defensive end is why they win at a pretty high level even when they have an off shooting night.

I’d assume it accounts for illegal screens too, but can’t say for certain.

And that's pretty obvious considering Iowa, save for a few players like CJ Frederick, basically go out of their way to avoid taking a charge, to the point where you wonder if they ever even learned how to in all their years of playing......................o_O
