Just wondering what everyone's thoughts on him are? I honestly thought he looked lost out there last season, but seems decent now. I have not seen enough of him to make any judgement on him now though. I do remember one poster thinking his overall game was better than this brother? I missed the first half last nite, but when I turned it on I noticed a couple plays where the opposing player seem to blow by him pretty easy. Nevertheless, he does seem to be a big upgrade over Patrick... ;)

Once Traore is fully healthy at this point he should be a 10-12 minute a game guy. When you’ve got him and Peyton together along with Harding that’s a struggle bus of a defensive team. He’s scrappy but at this point still pretty limited.

Might have been me.

I don't think he's a better player right now but I like his overall skill set and demeanor better. Payton kind of drives me crazy when he starts going too fast and taking off balanced shots, especially when it's not even necessary half the time.

I do agree that it doesn't make sense to have both on the court together since they are the two least athletic guys on the team.

I like Pryce pace and decision making with the ball. I think he's going to be very good in the future.

I think Traore takes more minutes from Dembele than Pryce.

I think Pryce will be a very solid 6th man this year. A spark off the bench who will get hot off and on.

He will get minutes as part of the regular rotation, but Barring injury I wouldn’t expect him to be 6th man. Likely 7th or 8th if I was betting.

More live 10-12 minutes each half, if not more. Clearly our most versatile & athletic player. I demand he plays more minutes!

At some point soon Traore needs to be in the starting lineup. If everyone is healthy then it’s time to start your best players, preferably Friday night since I’ll be there! Frans other problem with our pt guards the last 3-4 years is he can’t settle on a guy at pt. I don’t love the Harding 5-7 minutes and then bringing in Thelwell and the back and forth. This kind of stuff has been going on for to many years now back to Joe T.

I think Thelwell and Brock both played solid, probably even. Thelwell actually got more minutes than Brock (27 to 22). It’s a nice luxury to have two good points.

Last season, we scored 0.10 more points per possession and allowed 0.11 fewer points per possession when Pryce Sandfort was on the court. His box score numbers weren't impressive but that +/- was crazy good. He mostly played in the first halves of games too so it wasn't like he was only getting garbage minutes at the end of blowouts. So I've been intrigued to watch him play this season and see if this +/- continues with a larger sample size.

Damn, and the games in KC Friday, and I CAN"T even go to the game. Sucks big time! Would have loved to actually go to a game, but I'm actually going to be a half hour from Iowa City Friday night if you can believe that! :( My mother in law passed away last weekend, and I'm heading up Thursday -Sat for the funeral and to help my wife take care of some things at their farm. Top that off the Hawks are on the road at Maryland Saturday as well. Wasn't meant to be I guess...

I feel like in the big comeback win vs Neb fans have correctly credited Josh and Payton for our success but in re-watching the game I counted at least 6-7 big plays by Pryce at critical late juntures of this contest.
His offensive board, kick out, then getting it back and nailing the 3 was huge.
He battled for at least 5 late rebounds that we secured was big. His assist to Payton ×2 for three pointers were huge.
And the late steal when he got away with the double-dribble was great.
He is a tougher rebounder than Payton. Has a wider shoulder set than Payton...scraps hard and went floor to keep a rebound alive that we captured.
Kudos to Pryce for continuing to work and develop.
He is going to be an important shooter next year post-payton.
Dix, pryce and Koch and maybe Brock will be our designated snipers next year as Fran re-shapes the roster with more athletic less skilled guys.

Pryce is little bit better than Payton in nearly every category from my POV. Pryce is better athlete, sticks with perimeter guys better on defense, better ball handler. I hope Pryce doesn't follow Payton's path in the unforced Turnovers trying to do too much and the Crazy Streakiness in 3pt shooting. Last year Pryce was guarding the MSU PG and he stuck with him and blocked the shot---I've never seen Payton make that kind of play. I think Pryce will end up the better player. Payton's legacy is really hanging in balance on how he finishes this season. He had that awful streak 3pt shooting his Sophomore year and this year he's struggled in most of the big games. A strong B1G finish will make fans miss Payton...a bunch of Big games where he misses nearly every 3pt shots like Wisconsin and Utah St. will leave a bad overall legacy. Gatens and Whitey went out on top carrying their teams as seniors. That is the legacy we hope for Payton.

One of the things I like about Pryce is how composed he is. He's also aggressive with his shot selection but he doesn't get out of control or take off balance shots. He's always squared up when he shoots.

100% spot on…..should be a very athletic roster next year.

Pryce, being the younger brother, is a little more athletic. His shot is definitely more consistent and he’s a little quicker, which makes him a passable defender. In the end, I think he will be a better player than Payton. Certainly more well rounded.

So, Pryce is younger and he seems to play under more control than his brother. He looks to be an excellent offensive forward, like so many who have come before him. Unfortunately he rebounds at a much lower rate than his brother and on a par with Patrick.

Not exactly an equal comparison since Payton plays more inside on defense while Pryce plays a little more on the perimeter, but fair. I’ll say this, Pryce came down with a big time offensive rebound near the end of the Nebraska game. Huge.

I agree. He has a very nice shot and release. You can usually tell immediately if the shot will fall once it leaves the fingertips. Rarely off-balance.

Love Pryce’s all-around game. I thought his lack of playing time in the ISU game for whatever reason was costly for the team.

I don't claim to follow the hoops team closely, but hearing people say Pryce is slightly more athletic than his brother and his rebounding is akin to Patrick does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. Pryce seems to be the poster child for what is Iowa Basketball.

A bunch of role players that should only spell starters for five to ten minutes a game, max.

Neither of them are very athletic

Unfortunately this seems to be a common theme with many of Fran’s rosters. We can mask it most years playing cupcakes or most legacy BT programs, but it seems we become exposed when we play truly athletic West Coast teams. I keep thinking back to that Oregon game in the tourney a few years back and it reminds me of our programs pecking order in college basketball…☹️

Fran obsesses over length and offensive skill. It seems to not intersect with elite athleticism and or strength very often (or defense). Murray’s would be an exception.

That team who lost to Oregon could have been a really good team. Garza. JBo, Wieskamp, both Murray's, CJ Fred, even Perkins. Give that roster to a staff that actually values being sound fundamentally, values the defensive end, solid with the basketball, getting your best kids on the floor, etc..........and you get a lot more out of that team. Fran's had a few rosters that could have been so much more with a solid staff
