If Nebraska beats Michigan tonight, it's Iowa vs Nebraska. If not, it's Iowa vs Indiana.

The 2 seed is up in the air too!

2016-17 Big Ten Standings
TEAM CONF GB OVR
Purdue 13-4 - 24-6
Maryland 12-6 1.5 24-7 (0-1 vs Wisc, 1-1 vs MN; 1-2 vs the other 2 teams)
Minnesota 11-6 2 23-7 (1-1 vs MD, 0-1 vs Wisc; 1-2 vs other 2 teams)
Wisconsin 11-6 2 22-8 (1-0 vs MD, 1-0 vs MN; 2-0 overall vs the other 2 teams)

Just heard that the winner of Minnesota at Wisconsin is the #2 seed.

Who to root for? Nebraska probably gives us a better chance to win, but if they beat Michigan there goes a top 50 win for us. There's not a huge gap between Nebraska and indiana's RPI.

I think Iowa needs to keep winning games and I think Michigan could kill two birds with one stone if they beat Illinois in the 8/9 game (back into top 50 RPI and knock illinois off Bubble). Im cheering for Minnesota tonight so that our path is Nebraska then Minnesota for a chance to dance..

I'm a lot more confident that we beat Nebraska than Indiana so I lean towards an easier opponent rather than another top 50 win. We needed overtime to beat Indiana at home just a couple of weeks ago, albeit with a terrible shooting performance that night. Indiana has the talent to beat us if they decide to play well. Much less likely for Nebraska to make that happen.

I Hope Nebraska wins I would much rather play them and they have alittle better RPI than Indiana, also Indiana if they get it together could win the BTT.

Don't we want to play the best RPI teams as possible? In that case, IU?
I think just keep winning is the most important thing now. If we win Thursday and Friday, I think were in no matter who we play. Nice thing we've played so many guys all year, because everyone's had a chance to stay involved. We're rolling right now, and should be as fresh as anyone at this point in the year.

yikes, you would think with wins over Kansas and North Carolina, their RPI would be solid
That's why the committee is going away from RPI as much this year because teams have figured out how to trick the RPI system. Also it's getting changed next year. Indiana had a lot of games that were 250 plus RPI wins.

MInnesota did it perfect by beating and playing teams in the 125-175 range their RPI was 4th at one point without playing any great teams.

Figuring what appears to be the case that we need two more wins to get in, depending on what other teams do...but seems pretty clear...

I'd like to play Nebraska and get the taste of the double overtime loss out of my mouth.

Here's the thing. If we don't win in a game we KNOW we need against a team that has to go 4-in4, we don't deserve it. We can be frustrated/disappointed/angry/sad whatever as fans, but beating a non-bub be team isn't too much to ask if we're playing like an NCAA squad.

My thoughts as well. At some point we're gonna have to earn the spot in the tourney

We all know many teams can play the "what if" game this year, but we're Iowa fans, so...

If Iowa hadn't been cheated @ Minnesota and hadn't failed to close it out @ Nebraska--just those two games--Iowa is 20-11 and 12-6 right now, tied for second in the Big Ten, and an NCAA lock. That's how close this team is. Given how the Hawkeyes are playing now, I have to believe things will be different in the Big Ten Tourney this year and that this team will force its way into the NCAA tournament. And then, well, who knows? But I'd like to find out.

BTW: If you think every team the committee chooses "earns" its way into the field every year, you haven't been paying attention.

Can't even mention Nebby loss, mee just plain blew it but Minny was BS. Just 11-7 would have been so much better than this, and this feels pretty good.

They're on fire right now, bring anyone on.

Same

Nebraska would be easier to beat but if we cant beat Indiana then why are we even talking about the NCAA tournament?

I believe that Iowa is in no matter what with two more wins and I think Iowa would slide in with only one more win but most of the bubble teams would have to lose their first conference tournament game.

Bingo. It really doesn't matter as Iowa is playing as good as anyone and they know what's at stake.

I just hope we continue to play good ball the rest of the way. We will probably drop one before the NCAA's are over, and we may drop one early in the league tourney and be in the NIT. As long as we play well the rest of the way I have to consider this a good season with a lot of hope for next year.

We in tourney time now and it's going to be a reward for a team that worked hard and gotten better. Nice job Hawks.

Not worried about Ind/Neb, but the 2nd game I strongly prefer Wisconsin. We don't match up well against Minnesota imo, we're a bit too much finesse regardless of almost winning the last game against them. They block everything inside so Cook and Pemsl won't do much, making us very perimeter oriented.

This makes our win against Wisky look better, I guess. That and Purdon't winning today should help the RPI a bit.

minny had plenty of block vs us....i'd still rather play them instead of wiscy though :(

These kids have really improved clutch play. The freshmen talent is showing. We can beat Indiana and Maryland. Although I'm of the opinion the boys need only one win.

One more win should move Iowa into 68-72 range. Some of the bad early losses will get excused based on the youth-4th youngest team in the Division. Iowa has played well at the end of the season, beating ranked teams on the road and winning one in the BTT. Iowa features a good human interest story with Peter Jok, whose also the B1G's leading scorer. That seems enough to get at least a play in game.

This is correct. Young team or not, we stumbled a lot in the non-conference and had some hiccups in the conference. The reason we are not in is because we haven't earned it yet. We still can, but until the last 2 weeks I did not see us as an NCAA team. I do now, but we have more work to do.

I think they've been doing that the last two weeks haven't they? Two road wins against ranked teams. Think their earning it now.
That isn't really what I meant. The point was that we could play teams like Rutgers, Nebraska, and Penn State in the BTT, but winning those does little to nothing for our tournament chances. At some point in the BTT we're going to have to play a higher tier Big Ten team and beat them if we want to make the tournament. It may be preferable to play Nebraska over Indiana, but Indiana looks like a better win regardless of RPI, and those are the games we need

The question will really boil down to whether Indiana moves the needle at all. The hope is that Penn St + Indiana wins here add two RPI 100 wins (beating Nebraska, losing to MSU gets them projected to 98). Will that be enough to move us into the play in games?

I just hope no tv teddy or that 4'2 guy that can't see/hear timeouts at our games. With players being so tall they should have a height limit for guys that are refs and make sure they have great hearing. You have to be atleast 5'9 to be a ref.

Things have been kind of falling in place for us so I assume the basketball gawds want us to beat Indiana again before we repeat victories over Wisconsin and Purdue for the BTT title.

You forgot to mention Maryland. Let's just repeat the last week and a half in DC
