The University of Iowa is in danger of losing out on $33.4 million in research funding if National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding cuts are approved.

University of Iowa researchers are dealing with a fast-changing funding environment, that led to varying guidance issued twice in two days.

The school paused NIH funding requests on Monday but revoked that decision on Tuesday because of a temporary restraining order from a U.S. judge.

"Please recognize that this is a very fluid situation, and we request and appreciate your patience," said Interim Vice President for Research Lois Geist, in a campus update posted on Tuesday, Feb. 11. "We are staying on top of events, consulting with peer institutions, and meeting with our congressional delegation. We will do our best to keep campus updated as we receive information that is useful in your work."
