After the game yesterday along with Alabama's domination of Msu. Do you think Bama would have ran it up on Iowa more in the Cotton Bowl if that was the matchup???

I've been thinking about that the last 76 hours ... hate that I am losing sleep over it

we would have hung with Alabama but only if we found out we were playing them 10 minutes before kickoff. We have a better shot without the coaches mustering up a game plan.

I see how it is. Instead of breaking down a game and discussing the op. You bastards rather critique grammar. Maybe some of you should become English teachers instead of Sunday armchair quarterbacks.

Speaking of Bama....Eppy better make sure he keeps Saban off his doorstep. Iowa needs his son to help us get to the quaterback. Because this team has no pass rush whatsoever.

Stanford, without question. We are built to at least slow down the power game of Alabama. McCaffery did it all. Can't completely game plan for that.

Honestly, there are a lot of teams that would have destroyed Iowa on Friday. Stanford with McCaffrey probably made it look as ugly as possible though.

Alabama has more talent spread across the roster.

Stanford. Especially when they're on fire and we're flat. We could beat Bama if we're healthy. And Stanford is good but I think we'd give them a game if we played again.

Meh. Who cares? (And yes, I know, I'm responding so i obviously care, right?)

Stanford came out firing on all cylinders. Iowa came out flat. Stanford is a great team. Iowa is a very good team. Combine all that and you get what we had Friday.

That said, I truly believe this year's Iowa team could hang with both those teams more often than not. Doesn't mean I think Iowa would win more...but I don't think they'd get "destroyed" either.

Looking forward to next year when I think Iowa will be good enough to have that chance.

Because you're asking this question, the correct response is that teams don't beat Iowa...Iowa lost the game.

Why? Deal with it....that's why.

I don't know or want to predict how the Alabama offense would do against the Iowa defense but I think I'm fairly safe in saying that the Alabama defense would have totally destroyed the Iowa offense. And that's not a slight or dig at Iowa. Saban's defense is geared to stop the MSU/Iowa style offense. The ones they have historically had issues with - as do some great coaches (Harbaugh's another) - are the running QBs, some type of spread ones. Check out some of Alabama/Saban's defeats over the last 6 or 7 years - running QBs/option offense. You can bet - although he'd never admit it - that Saban was dam^ glad it was MSU instead of OSU in the semi-final game.

As General Custer said after the Battle of Little Bighorn,
"We lost to a well-prepared opponent."
