Barkley Openly Rooting For Auburn

Everything he said Iowa had to do in the second half to get back in the game was spot on. Webber did a good job also as color man. Be thankful you didn't have to listen to Dolph's replacement on the radio. That guy is God awful.
Funny, because I did listen to him and I was thankful to hear what was going on during the game instead of being :30 behind like Dolph usually is.

Funny you would say that because I was listening driving home. Albrecht complained about a foul called on the Hawks-said it should have gone the other way. Bobby shot him down. Explained the call and why the refs got it right. Albrecht doubled down with "the Hawks have not only been up against the Tennessee players today but all the elements."
As long as Bobby is on there, things are tolerable. Same with football and Ed.

It’s pretty simple for me. Play by play means tell me what is happening in real time. Albracht and the great majority of pbp announcers do that. That’s what I want and, unfortunately, Dolph can’t do that anymore, in football and basketball. With Dolph, you have to listen to the crowd noise to tell if something good or bad happened. I’m sure he’s a nice man and obviously beloved in the state, but he just isn’t very good at pbp.

As for Barkley, I have no problem with him openly rooting for Auburn, when you’re sitting in a studio, no reason to hide your bias.

It’s called marketing 101 and CBS is killing it with Charles in studio or in the commercials with Samuel, Spike, and now Jim (Larry Bird too).

Enjoy the ride and this time of year as it’s special and fun to see all the crazy things that happen during March Madness.

Love me some Sir Charles Barkley. As pointed out Settles and other’s do it, it’s more the in game commentary that’s a concern to me, if it’s the guy’s school he played at you gotta cut them a little slack.

And Kenny Smith played at UNC and has a son currently on the team, these guys are obviously going to be biased toward their school. As others have said no reason to hide it, I like that CBS is playing it up with the Auburn decorations for Chuck. It's a studio show, it's just entertainment.

The main studio show is so much better than the one with Seth Davis acting like he knows everything about basketball, calling Buffalo his lock of the weekend going on and on about them and then seeing them get blown tf out by Texas Tech.

If Auburn's opponent is making them look bad, Charles will call it like he sees it. Of course he is rooting for them. That doesn't mean what he sees will change either way. Why be fake?

The only thing I didn't like about Dolph's replacement was his lack of homerism. At the end of the Nebraska game he sounded way too excited that they made that shot, like he really wanted to make any game winning call even if it was for the opposition. Dolph would have been deflated. I appreciate Dolph's passion for the Hawks.

Jess Settles does the same on the Big Ten Network. No issues at all for people supporting their school
I was thinking the other day, is the there any more obvious candidate to do the color commentary on the Iowa Radio play by play than Settles when Bobby decides to call it a career?
