Beat me to it...If Payton is battling a wrist injury then why play him so many minutes (instead of Traore for example) or encourage him to take 10+ 3s last night. Those are all wasted possessions and killed this team last night

That 2nd half lineup was awful defensively. We've seen this over and over with Fran. He refuses to play his best defensive lineup. People are sick of it. The OP acts like Fran hasn't been here a million years. We know who Fran is and we know his ceiling. It's just simply time to move on.
if there's one thing the state of iowa can't stand it's soft play
For me - This. I'm not freaking out after every loss. I've just been done with Fran since that loss to Richmond. And, things have regressed a bit since then.I think there's a lot of Fran fatigue. Lack of tourney success during his tenure has been a big part of that. Overall the program just feels really stale right now.

I have NO expectations of anything beyond what we've already seen the past 15 years, and that's leading me into some deep apathy. I feel no excitement towards this program whatsoever. None.
Fran has 2 NCAA wins in the past 7 years (well, 8, but the 2020 tournament was canceled due to covid). That's not so hot.
The lack of blocking out is a huge pet peeve of mine. And that also forget any bit of blocking out.
Because it's the 1st team Iowa played with a pulse, and they got dominated while their best player shot 4 for 18.Utah State is NOT a bad team. We were slightly favored to win and obviously came up short last night.
Guess what? This won't be the only loss of the season; there's gonna be more.
With every game, no matter the team I am rooting for, I go in with the expectation that my team MIGHT lose. Shit happens in sports; favorites get upset.
And in an 8-point IOWA loss to Utah State (77-69):
Traore, Dix and Payton (right wrist) were all banged up, which helps to explain Payton going 1-13 from three and Dix going 0-4 from three.
As a Team, these #s are hard to explain, but again, shit happens in sports:
5-26 (19%) from 3
8-16 (50%) from the Foul Line
16 turnovers.
You said it, baby!!!
You want to root for soft play, move to fruity Vermont...or...California ....or some other soft play State...like maybe Delaware or something, goddamn it!!!!
This is hard scrabble, mean streets I O W A, mother f*ckers!!! Birthplace of John F'ing Wayne and Ashton F'ing Kutcher!!!!
Toughen up or GTFO!!!
That rooting for soft play bullshit might work in the pastel lollipop states but here in the mother f*ckin I -O -W -A, shit is for real. You feel me?!!!
We don't put up with that soft ass shit one second longer than 15 or 16 years. Perhaps definitely not one second longer than 17 years.
Mother f*cker.
FIFY....The shooting, especially from 3 and FT line were the difference. We won the turnover battle though got killed on the glass.
Payton/Dix are injured so Fran should limit minutes til healthy.
Freeman and Brock were solid.
Need a little more Traore if he's healthy.
Need less Pryce and Dembele
Need more Thelwell
Koch was not great but has a high ceiling
I didn’t realize that the entire state of Iowa was so engaged in this battle for better Hawkeye rebounding, but then I don't live there so what do I know 🤷if there's one thing the state of iowa can't stand it's soft play
continuing to get outrebounded year after year is a sign you are a soft team
beth, do the right thing
Washington State is a good team, we beat them. We were out rebounded by Utah State and that was disappointing. We could not throw it in the ocean in that arena, eerily similar to NCAA games. Not sure I'd call it dominated thoBecause it's the 1st team Iowa played with a pulse, and they got dominated while their best player shot 4 for 18.
